New Reveal : 2011 Infiniti M

Introduction:

Well, Nissan's luxury division - Infiniti, promised us to 'virtually' reveal their all-new M sedan, that will show-up in spring of 2010, as a 2011 model. Well Infiniti have kept the promised, and now, here's the all-new generation of M, in V6 and V8 forms.
Exterior Design:

The third generation of Infiniti's 2011 M sedan comes with a completely new body-shell. The front, is heavily inspired and cued from Infiniti's mega concept - 2009 Infiniti Essence Concept. All the swoopy lines goes all the way out back for more effect, while the sculptured fenders and bumpers gives the 2011 M sedan a very supple but yet sporty look. Though personally, the back-end is the best place to look at the new M.
Interior Design:

Moving to the new M's interior, as with most cars of the kind, Infiniti customers will feel right at home with the styling. The Japanese brand promises that the M will stand out thanks to the use of innovative materials, an advanced climate control system, superior audio and an enhanced quality feel. Compared to a BMW 5-Series and a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the Infiniti M offers more legroom up-front, and for the back seats as well.
Engines & Performance:

Like always, Infiniti keeps-up with the latest engines on the M. The 2011 M is offered with two all-new Nissan engines. The base engine comes in the form of a 3.7L VVEL V6 from the
2009 Infiniti G37, and out-puts 328 hp with the M37. Infiniti's M also comes with a optional 5.6L V8 from the big Infiniti QX56, which originally is a Dodge 5.7 HEMI, but it packs 400 hp in the M56. Engines are connected to a 7-speed automatic, through the rear-wheels. Infiniti did not yet announce if the 2011 M will have an all-wheel-drive variant.

2011 Infiniti M sedan to be 'virtually revealed' at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

Infiniti confirmed that it will hold the ‘virtual launch’ of the new 2011 Infiniti M sedan at the 59th annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 14. So what does Nissan's luxury division mean by ‘virtual launch’? Well follow down for the answer.

Infiniti say that “the event will led by an onscreen guide who will take guests on a pictorial journey to rediscover the power of nature and form - and how it can lead to a sense of freedom,”. Basically that means that Infiniti will have a big screen to show their new 2011 M sedan. However, Infiniti also claim that “To make this virtual launch a reality, Infiniti partnered with RTT USA and Klip Collective to create an exact computer-generated rendering of the M using only engineering data.”

Test : 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 beats 2009 Infiniti G37 Coupe in Edmunds test

Hyundai has been forever advertising that their new Genesis Coupe is a "Mustang Killer" ! Although that's essentially not true, because the 'Stang is a muscle car and the Genesis Coupe is a sports car, the Genesis Coupe also rivals the Japanese sports cars. However, Edmunds gave the Genesis Coupe its hardest rival yet, the Infiniti G37 Coupe.

The two cars are remarkably similar. Both are luxury-aimed 4-seater coupe about the same size, and both powered by a V6 engine with over 300hp. Power for the 2009 Infiniti G37 Coupe comes from a 3.7L V6 that produces 330-hp with a peak torque of 270 lb-ft. That allows for a 0 to 60 mph run in 5.7 seconds. The 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is powered by a 3.8L V6 making 306-hp and a maximum torque of 310 lb-ft. However, the Genesis Coupe does 0 to 60 mph much slower than the Infiniti G37 with a time of 6.4 seconds.

Let's not forget, pricing for the 2009 Infiniti G37 Coupe starts at $35,900 while the 2010 Genesis Coupe 3.8 starts at $10,900 less with an MSRP of $25,000. Adding the Track Package, which includes all the luxury equipment as the G37 Coupe, brings the pricing up to $29,500 giving the Genesis Coupe a stiffer suspension, a Torsen limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes and 19-inch wheels.

While we’ll leave it up to you to decide which is better (please tell us what you think in the comments) - here is Edmunds conclusion: “It’s the undeniable value equation that tips this test in the favor of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis 3.8. You simply get more car for your dollar with the Genesis coupe. Sure, it’s not as much car as the 2009 Infiniti G37, but at two-thirds the cost, it doesn’t have to be.”

What we think is that, although the Genesis Coupe is slower than the G37 Coupe, it's more track-ready than the Infiniti. Simply because the G37 Coupe is heavier and supplied by a softer suspension than the Genesis Coupe. So, the Genesis deserves to win because it's a true hard-core sports car, equipped with similar Infiniti luxury-technology, and is $5,000 cheaper with the Track Package.

New Reveal At Geneva : 2009 Infiniti Essence Concept

This is the most important reveal yet. As you all may noticed, luxury brands like Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, and even Aston Martin are into the 4-door coupe segment. So at first, this Infiniti Essence Concept may look a rival to a Mercedes CLS, BMW CS Concept, Porsche Panamera, and Aston Martin Rapide. However, Nissan’s luxury brand today took the wraps off of the Infiniti Essence Concept at the 2009 Geneva Motor show, and it's completely different to what the other luxuries are doing.
Infiniti isn’t saying it will put the Essence into production just yet. It says that the Essence is a “celebration of Infiniti and its 20 years history as a creator of performance cars.” If we look deep into it, we find head lights from a G37, taillights from a FX35, and a wide-kit body with a fast-back roof. It's certainly a handsome beauty, but nothing compared to what's under the hood.
Power for the Infiniti Essence comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.7L V6 gasoline engine mated to a electric-hybrid system that runs on lithium-ion batteries. That gives two-seater, rear-wheel-drive hybrid coupe a total of 600hp. We've seen what 480hp Nissan GT-R could do, so if this Essence comes to production (we hope they do) with the same engine management system, it'll surely mess up the world! That why we think the Essence is aimed at cars like the Aston Martin One-77 we saw earlier.

Report : Nissan cutting out production of Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs

With dark times for the world auto industry and decreased sales of big SUVs, Nissan is reportedly phasing out production of a number of its large vehicles at its Mississippi plant, including the Nissan Quest MPV, Nissan Armada SUV and the Armada-based Infiniti QX56. Production in the Mississippi plant will instead build new vehicles for the future.

The reason for cutting production of these vehicles like the Nissan Armada and the Infiniti QX56 is that they have all performed poorly in terms of sales this year, making it more and more likely that they will be dropped soon. Plus the fact that strict CAFE regulations is making it harder to see big SUVs on the road. Currently, the Nissan Armada is selling around half the units it did compared to last year, while the Infiniti QX56's sales are down by over a third for the year to date, that what reports MotorTrend.

However, this report doesn't mean that the Armada nor the QX56 are dead yet. The news could just mean that Nissan will be shifting production of these models to other plants, and next generation will probably be based on smaller wheel bases, to move them in the crossover class. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Ward’s Auto reveals '10 Best Engines' list for 2009

With the end of the 2008 year, awards for everything amazing in this years are being revealed. And Ward's Auto has just released its annual list of 10 Best Engines for the new year. Ward's Auto have been testing engines all year, and they came up now with the 10 best.

The winning engines are:

- Audi: 2.0L TFSI turbocharged DOHC I4 (A4 Avant)
- BMW: 3.0L turbocharged DOHC I6 (135i Coupe)
- BMW: 3.0L DOHC I6 Turbodiesel (335d)
- Chrysler: 5.7L Hemi OHV V8 (Dodge Ram/Challenger R/T)
- Ford: 2.5L DOHC I4 HEV (Escape Hybrid)
- General Motors: 3.6L DOHC V6 (Cadillac CTS)
- Honda: 3.5L SOHC V6 (Accord Coupe)
- Hyundai: 4.6L DOHC V8 (Genesis)
- Toyota: 3.5L DOHC V6 (Lexus IS 350)

Our impression of the list is that, Ward's Auto seem to have forgotten a lot of amazing engines that have come this year. Such as the VQ engine in the Infiniti G37, and the fantastic 3.8L twinturbo V6 in the Nissan GT-R, or the high-revving 4.0L BMW V8 in the M3. And let's not forget the best engine of all (in our opinion), the 6.2L supercharged V8 in the Corvette ZR-1 and the Cadillac CTS-V. So the list isn't that great, but there's a lot more awards to come.

New Reveal At LA : 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible

Infiniti has just released the G37 Convertible at the LA Auto Show. The new convertible offers an all-new design from the A-pillar back compared to the G37 Coupe, with extensive structural reinforcements, a wider rear track, modified rear suspension and a special convertible-focused interior with rear pop-up bar and available headrest audio speakers, wind deflector and climate controlled front seats.

The Infiniti G37 Convertible, like its coupe sister, is powered by the 3.7-litre VQ-series V6 with 320hp. The engine is backed by a choice of an electronically controlled 7-speed automatic transmission with magnesium paddle shifters or a responsive close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission.
The tractable metal roof and be opened and closed in just 30 seconds. So with a flick of a button, you can turn the Californian roadster into a full-on sports car. This G37 Convertible will go on sale in the States in spring and across Europe from late summer 2009.
