With the new design, Mercedes says the E-Class Coupe will be the "world's most aerodynamically efficient series-production car." That's a bold claim, but one can see in the newly acquired sleekness of the body that things have changed. This E-Class Coupe, in its slight form with no B-pillars and completely retractable side windows, creates a drag coefficient of just 0.24. Also, the E-Class Coupe gets a new heart.
The new 2010 E-Class Coupe gets lots of engine variations like any Merc would. But this Coupe gets an all-new 4-cylinder engine, in petrol and diesel form. Both engines offer 200hp. The E-250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Coupe diesel get a 44.3 mpg fuel efficiency, while the petrol E-250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY Coupe get a more modest 32.6 mpg of fuel efficiency. The new direct-injection E-350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY Coupe gets a healthy 3.5L V6 with 288hp. Moving to the top of the end model, the E-500 Coupe with a 5.5L V8 and 382hp.
At first there won’t be an AMG version, but it is expected in the near future with 500 + hp. For those who like the AMG looks and don’t care about additional power can go with the AMG Sports Package. The AMG Sports Package offers AMG front apron with large air intakes, AMG side skirts, AMG rear apron with a black insert and 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a 6 twin-spoke design.
Safety and feature list is very impressive. Some of the technical innovations include damper control, drowsiness detection, active bonnet and preventive occupant protection.
European customers can get their hands on the new Coupe already in May. Public debut will take place next month in Geneva.
