New Reveal At NY : 2010 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

This was the last of the Land Rover trio that debuted at the New York Auto Show. The Range Rover Sport has always been the combination between the Range Rover and the Discovery. And now with the all-new facelifted Range Rover Sport, things are still the same. So it might look like a sporty edition of the Range Rover, but it's basically a Discovery beneath the body.
In terms of looks, the 2010 Range Rover Sport got a mild restyle in the front fascia and rear side. Up-front, lies a new new 'three-stripe' LED indicator headlights as the Range Rover, two-bar mesh grille, as well as a restyled bulging front-bumper. The side vents are cued from the Discovery, but those new rims are Range Rover Sport special. At the back, more bulging goes to the rear-bumper, and darken treatment for the taillights.
Inside, the Range Rover Sport gets it's own new interior with cues from the Range Rover and Discovery. The squared air-vents for the air-conditioning is distinctive for the Range Rover Sport, and a new layout as well. In fact, Land Rover claim that this fascia now has 50% fewer switches and buttons than before, thus offering a cleaner look.
Engine line-up is wide. It offers both engines in the Range Rover and the Discovery. So for diesel, there's the new 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 with 245 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, and the top-end 5.0L supercharged V8 with 510 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, which both are originated from Jaguar. Engines are mated to a revised ZF HP28 6-speed automatic transmission. 0-60 times variate in a big margin, 9.0 seconds for the 3.0L diesel unit, and 4.9 seconds for the supercharged V8.
Like the new facelifted Range Rover and Discovery, the Range Rover Sport got some tweaks and fiddles in the cache's computer to improve handling. The facelifted model sees the introduction of new systems such as Adaptive Dynamics that works in conjunction with the existing Dynamic Response, and the addition of the more road-focused Dynamic Program to the Terrain Response system.

Considering all factors, this Range Rover Sport is a direct rival to BMW's new X5 M and X6 M.

New Reveal At NY : 2010 Land Rover Discovery 4

Along with the 2010 Range Rover, this is the Discovery 4 - LR4. The new Discovery also receives a mild facelift, and a new interior. Land Rover have also fitted a new twin-turbo diesel engine, and improved the handling overall.
The new exterior design of the 2010 Discovery is actually inspired by the bigger sibling, the Range Rover. Although this is a serious off-road SUV, Land Rover got rid of the hard edges and dark plastics. To add, this Discovery gets revised headlights and taillights now feature LED technology. While there are also new 19-inch wheels, there's a new 10-spoke 20-inch wheel is available as a factory option for the first time.
Land Rover have presented a new interior that is nearly identical to the new 2010 Range Rover for the new 2010 Discovery. The new centre console is now inclined towards the driver, the new steering wheel has revised switch layout, and new seats are added as well. Also, new are the 5-inch TFT screens in the instrument cluster displaying key information and a new Portable Audio Interface with MP3 player and i-Pod connectivity. However, it doesn't get the new 12-inch screen like the Range Rover.
Engine line-up is still the same with a V6 and V8 petrol. But for the diesel engine, Land Rover replaced the 2.7 twin-turbo Jaguar diesel engine, with Jaguar's all-new 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6. It packs 245 hp and a massive 442 lb-ft of torque. With an updated ZF HP28 6-speed automatic transmission, the new diesel engine will hit 60 mph in 9.0 seconds, which is respectable of a diesel-powered heavy off-road SUV that can tow up to 3.5 tons. Nonetheless, the new diesel unit gets better fuel consumption by 9% compared to the previous diesel Discovery. So in all means, there's nothing in true mountain off-roading that is near this.
Because the Discovery has a heavy double-cache system, Land Rover tweaked the vehicle dynamics on and off-road by retuning the suspension, adding larger brakes and revising the Terrain Response and Hill Descent Control systems.

Check for the new Discovery 4 this summer.

New Reveal At NY : 2010 Land Rover Range Rover

These are the first official photos of the redesigned facelifted Range Rover that made its premiere along with its facelifted Range Rover Sport sibling and the Discovery / LR3 at the New York Auto Show. Most major changes in the new Range, is an overall tweaks in the exterior, an all-new interior, and the also new 5.0L supercharged V8 out of the Jaguar XFR.
The exterior design enhancements adds modern futures up-front like the new 'three-stripe' LED indicators on the headlights. Also, the new headlights are sharper-looking and fitted to an extent ed new grill as well as new bumpers front and rear. Land Rover have also redesigned the side vents on the fenders. Going to the back, there's also darken treatment for the tail-lights.
Inside, there's an all-new interior compared to the previous model. The new interior adds more "modernness", too. There's leather trim for the headlining, pillar and door casings while the fascia buttons now feature a satin chrome-plated finish. Moreover, the 2010 model features a new dual view touch screen infotainment system plus what Land Rover claims to be the world's largest configurable 12-in. Thin Film Transistor (TFT) screen which is found in the instrument cluster instead of the standard gauges. The 2010 Range also has an all-new surround camera system for parking and seeing out of places.
Like Jaguar, Land Rover replaced the old supercharged 4.2, with a new 5.0L supercharged V8 unit. In the Range Rover, it develops 510 hp, and 460 lb-ft of torque. That's a great deal of power. However, despite the 29% power increase, Land Rover claims that this engine is 7.3% more fuel efficient, at 17 mpg. The 2010 Range Rover also includes improvements in the braking system, suspension, and the Stability Control systems.

With all new tweaks to this classic SUV, the new 2010 Range Rover is still the benchmark in SUVs.

Proudly TATA ! Owner of Land-Rover Defender re-badged it as a Tata

For those who still don't know yet, Indian automaker Tata, has bought Land-Rover and Jaguar for more than a year now. However, we haven't seen any Land-Rover or Jaguar cars badged as Tata. That is actually a relaxing thing to know, which keeps LR and Jag British character alive.

Though, someone in Oman thought the hard off-roader Defender needed some Indian flair. So in the excitement and "idiocy", this Defender's LR logos have been replaced with Tata ones.

Could this re-badging business be done by the manufacturer themselves someday? Hope not!

UK offers £27 million to Land Rover to build LRX

Land Rover announced this morning that the UK government is offering it a grant of up to £27 million ($37.2 million USD) to start production of an all-new model based on the LRX Concept shown at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. Land Rover says that the production LRX will be the smallest, lightest and most efficient it has ever produced. The overall LRX production project will cost £400 million.

Land Rover says that the production LRX will introduce new powertrain options that will enable the implementation of Land Rover’s e-terrain technologies strategy to exceed a 20 percent improvement in CO2 emissions. This new luxury Land Rover is expected to hit showrooms in 2011. It will likely share some parts with the Freelander, but the price will be more due to better feature list and overall quality. That's why, it's expected to be named under the Range Rover series.

Report : Jaguar-Land Rover in secret aid talks with UK Government

According to Automotive News Europe, Jaguar-Land Rover CEO David Smith is secretly in talks with UK's Prime Minister Gordon Brown for a government financial aid. That's because, after the 19.4% sales decrease in August, Jaguar-Land Rover have lost £1 billion ($1.49 billion). And Tata Motor Company, which owns Jaguar-Land Rover isn't in the best condition to support Jaguar-Land Rover. So it seems that the British government will be covering Jaguar-Land Rover's loss.

As many knows , Indian automaker Tata bought Jaguar & Land Rover from Ford months ago . That event was a worry for most people . Because people had doubts that these British Automakers will lose their British character . Well after lots of rumors that Tata will build Jags and LRs in India , turns out to be all wrong . Tata's CEO Mr.Ratan Tata assured to the British people that there beloved Jags and LRs will be made in their original homeland . From Mr.Tata : "There is no insistence from us to bring these brands to India. The launch of these brands in India will take their own natural course and will be a commercial decision" . So even though an Indian overtook 2 British companies , but they'll stay 100 % pure British-built .
