Introduction: When it gloomed on last New York's Auto Show, Acura announced that their latest ZDX coupe-like crossover SUV will come to production. Well, here it is; fully-production 2010 Acura ZDX, that will arrive to dealerships later this winter. The Acura ZDX is the real competitor against BMW X6 SAV.
Design: With the exception of a few minor cosmetic details such as the head- and tail-light trims, the alloy wheels, the lower bumper designs and the interior trim, the production ZDX is identical to the NY Show concept. Which actually is a good thing, since Acura gave the ZDX a very sleek but yet settle design. Notable design highlights include Acura's new trademark grille, the panoramic glass roof, the hidden rear door handles, and the bulgy fender flares.
Interior:
Interior:Like the exterior, the interior too, stays reminiscent to the original ZDX Concept. Two-tone dashboard, large center navigation and entertainment screen, and 5 hand-stitched leather sport seats were the interior elements on the ZDX concepts; that now also come in the production ZDX.
Drive-train:
Drive-train:The 2010 Acura ZDX will also use Acura's latest drive-trains. Powered by Acura's latest direct-injection 3.7L V6, out-putting 300 hp and 270 lb-ft. The engine is mated to 6-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheels mounted paddle shifters. 2010 ZDX also benefits from Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. Performance or fuel economy figures have yet to be announced.
No pricing list is revealed either. However, according to Acura, the 2010 ZDX will be priced between the MDX luxury SUV and the RL luxury sedan. So look for the 2010 ZDX this winter!

"The ZDX is truly a luxury performance coupe - plus," said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales. "The emotional coupe styling coupled with a luxurious and dramatic interior and surprising versatility, allows the ZDX to define its own segment and attract an entirely new customer."
From the talk about this ZDX, we anticipate that this have to look good. In fact, while we aren't big fans of coupish SUVs like this, but it is better looking than the X6. The interesting details on the ZDX make it a real attractive vehicle. The hidden rear door handles that are concealed in the C-pillar and the muscular lines on the rear fender. Aside from a few minor details such as the headlights and taillights housings, the exhaust tail pipes and quite possibly, the front bumper with Acura's new trademark grille, don't expect to see other differences on the production model.
It's also more practical than the X6. Acura's engineers made a good compromise between sportiness and practicality. While it may have a very coupe-like fastback roof, it's still 488 cm long and 156 cm high. Inside, the 5-seater ZDX Concept features hand-stitched leather dashboard and two-tone trim, which probably won't be transferred to the production ZDX. But the full panoramic glass roof will surely be in the production model since all luxury-oriented cars are having it these days.
Ofcourse, this is only a design study. But the production ZDX will have, according to Acura, a new V6 engine that is connected to an all-new 6-speed automatic transmission that drives all four-wheels through Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system.
It hasn't got a name yet; we have to wait until the 2009 New York Auto Show next month. But from the darkened pictures, we can see that Acura has adapted a sloping roof-line that looks pretty similar to the X6. The overall shape clearly aims at Bimmer's crossover coupe.
Although it's a concept, but the spy shots proof that it's being test at the moment for production. Expect to enter production in 2010.
In production form, Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system will be making it appearance, competing with BMW's torque-sensing X-Drive.
Well , Acura's CEO Takeo Fukui com firmed that a V8 engine is in develop right now , and it'll be revealed in the next 18 months . It'll be featured in Acrua's future RWD luxury sedan line-up . Although , that'll likely be sometime in 2012 . For the next year or so , the V8 will probably be fitted to Acura's RL . Because Mr.Fukui admitted that the 3.7L V6 engine found in the current RL was "sufficient" to compete with its rivals .
Another senior Acura executive, vice president Koichi Kondo, also recently revealed that a V10 engine will appear in the next Honda NSX that will due sometime in 2010 . From the spy pictures taken at the Nurburgring , reporters predict the engine will be a 5.5L V10 with at least 550hp . That kind of number , will surely scare Nissan's GTR .
