Quarter-Mile Run : 2010 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost does quarter-mile in 13.9 seconds

As Ford has been praising their all-new EcoBoost technology, we really want to see how it performs. The first EcoBoost-powered Ford that's on sale is actually the luxury-oriented 2010 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost, that comes with a EcoBoost twin-turbocharged and direct-injection 3.5L V6. Power output is 355 hp and 350 lb/ft of torque. Fuel-economy is estimated at 17/24 mpg (city/highway). So Ford is claims that EcoBoost V6 has "V8 power, with V6 fuel economy." Though, does it really perform as a naturally aspirated V8 engine in reality?

Well, at a drag strip in Milan, Michigan, the motoring press were invited to test the all-new MKS EcoBoost at drag to prove that fuel-efficient cars can be fun and pull good numbers. Best record of the quarter mile time of the MKS EcoBoost comes from Car And Driver, 13.9 seconds @ 104 mph. Edmunds' Inside Line ran the quarter mile in 14-seconds flat @ 104 mph. Autobolg couldn't get the launch right, but still ran the quarter mile in 14.5 seconds @ 105 mph.

To put those figures in perspective with other Ford V8s, the 2006 Mustang-Shelby GT-H from Hertz runs a 13.9 @ 101.1 mph, while the 2010 Mustang GT runs it 13.6 seconds @ 103 mph. Comparing it to other V8 big luxury sedans, both Cadillac STS and Infiniti M45 V8s post 14.4 seconds @ 102 mph quarter-mile times.

So in the end, for a big, luxury, All-Wheel Dive (AWD) heavy sedan that weighs 4,300 pounds (1950 kg), the quarter-mile numbers that the 2010 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost pulls, are very good if not amazing. Can't wait to the 365 hp Ford Taurus SHO, and even the Mustang EcoBoost!

New Reveal At Detroit: 2009 Lincoln C Concept

Lincoln today dropped a brand new concept at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. The Lincoln C Concept is a study that offers big luxury in C-sized package for the upscale urban consumer - basically a rival to the Mini Cooper, BMW 1-Series and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz A and B-Class. If the C rolls out in production, it'll be the smallest Lincoln yet. So think of the Lincoln C as Lincoln’s version of the Ford Focus.
The new 2009 Lincoln C Concept would be a good market for Lincoln to venture into since none of its rivals have aggressively attacked that demographic. The Lincoln C Concept is designed with contemporary consumer in mind. The muscular lines and the big wheels, that's what we want.
Power for the Lincoln C Concept comes from a 1.6L EcoBoost inline 4-cylinder engine that makes a total of 180hp and 180lb-ft of torque. Mated to a dual-clutch PowerShift 6-speed transmission, the Lincoln C returns a projected 43 mpg on the highway.
Ford is also displaying its latest Eva HMI-technology in the Lincoln C. Production plans have yet to be revealed

New Reveal At Detroit: 2010 Lincoln MKT

Joining the new MKZ and MKS is the all-new luxury crossover MKT that Lincoln debuted at the Detroit Auto Show, offering a three-row seating. The MKT is actually based on the Ford Flex.
Inside and out, it looks pretty similar to the Flex, but with Lincoln touches. So the interior is full of creamy leather. As for the exterior, it features end-to-end tail-lights. But what makes the MKT stand out is the huge split waterfall grille.
The 2010 Lincoln MKT offers two fuel-efficient engine choices: 268hp 3.7L V6 or the new 3.5L V6 EcoBoost™ V6 engine that delivers 355hp. Both engines are connected to a 6-speed automatic.
Some of the new features available on the 2010 MKT include Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning with Brake Support, Active Park Assist, Blind Spot monitoring.
The 2010 Lincoln MKT will be available in dealer showrooms end of the summer. Don't mistake this MKT for being just a luxury version of the Flex. The MKT is a very distinctive crossover. But beyond the crossover's beautiful looks, there is a host of new technology on offer inside and out that should help put the MKT on luxury crossover shopping lists.

Ford Technology: Ford unveils automated parking system for Lincoln MKS, MKT and other Ford cars soon

A while back, Ford unveiled new safety technologies to keep the driver and passenger away from accidents. Now though, they have turned their heads into parking technology, which frankly most automakers are doing these days.

Ford has announced that it will begin offering an automated "push-of-a-button" parallel parking assistance on two Lincoln models later this year. The Ford system, which is similar to that offered by Lexus and VW, uses ultrasonic parking assistance radar, electronic power steering, and back-up camera assist to navigate a Lincoln MKS or MKT into a parking spot without any physical input from the driver. Ford has also announced that the new system will be included to other Ford models with power electric steering.

However, to trust such complicated thing, we need to ask, how does it work? Well Ford answered by following:

* The driver activates the system by pressing an instrument panel button, which activates the ultrasonic sensors to measure and identify a feasible parallel parking space.
* The system then prompts the driver to accept the system assistance to park.
* The steering system then takes over and steers the car into the parking space hands-free. The driver still shifts the transmission and operates the gas and brake pedals.
* A visual and/or audible driver interface advises the driver about the proximity of other cars, objects and people and provides instructions.
* While the steering is all done automatically, the driver remains responsible for safe parking and can interrupt the system by grasping the steering wheel.

Active Park Assist works in tandem with other new technologies that will be offered on the 2010 MKS and MKT and other Ford vehicles, including Blind Spot Information System (BLIS™) and Cross Traffic Alert.

New Reveal At LA : 2010 Lincoln MKZ

The Ford family is getting larger at LA. With the new generation of Mustang, Fusion and Mercury Milan, comes Lincoln. It's the new MKZ. And it's getting a new face-lift of 2010. the new MKZ gets a new face, new interior and more features compared to the current MKZ.
Also, 2010 MKZ features a new sport version with special sport suspension tuning with stiffer springs and larger stabilizer bars, 18-inch Euroflange polished wheels, darkened grille and headlamps, and an interior with contrasting piping and unique appliqués. However, all models include a 3.5L V6 with 263hp and 249 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration to 60MPH dropped from 7.7 to 7.1 seconds, thanks to a new 6-speed automatic. The new Lincoln MKZ also offers segment-exclusive features, including first-in-class Blind Spot Information System (BLIS™) with Cross Traffic Alert (CTA), which makes navigating traffic and parking lots safer and easier. Inside, MKZ’s cabin reflects an even more upscale look featuring genuine aluminum and wood depending on the trim package, an all-new instrument panel, detailed touches including new welcome lighting, chimes, tuxedo stitching on luxury leather seats and Bridge of Weir leather. And like the new cars from 2009, it features a sea of new technology. SYNC, 911 Assist, Vehicle Health Report (VHR), Voice-Activated Navigation, SIRIUS Travel Link™, Reverse Camera System, Ambient Lighting System and a THX II Premium Certified Audio System all comes as a standard kit.

The 2010 Lincoln MKZ is built at Ford’s Hermosillo (Mexico) Stamping and Assembly Plant and will be in dealer showrooms in spring 2009.
