New Reveal At Detroit: 2009 Audi A7 Sportback Concept

The 2009 Detroit Auto Show is open today, and this is the first car to be revealed. It's Audi all-new 4-door coupe-sedan concept, the A7 Sportback concept. However, from the sketches and the spy shots, the new A7 will surely go into a production form soon.
We can see from the photos that, all of the major Audi design cues are in play, including a more nuanced version of the brand's horsecollar grille and LED eyelash headlamps. The roofline of the "four-door coupe" is surprisingly fastback like, leading us to believe that the car could in fact be a full-blown hatchback. From the rear three-quarter view, the car actually has a certain Lamborghini Estoque look to it, but that's mainly because of the taillights and the angular exhaust outlets.
This future A7 is larger than the current A6 but smaller than the A8. With the A7, Audi will go right against Porsche Panamera and Mercedes-Benz CLS. No word on what engine this will get because it's a concept now, but when it hits production factories, expect Audi's famous 4.2L V8 to come to play.

It's a good start, Detroit.
