This record run was done at the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah where an XFR prototype recorded a stunning top speed of 225.675mph (363.188km/h). It is even faster than the XJ220, which managed 217.1mph (349.4 km/h) in 1992.
XFR prototype is powered by the all-new supercharged 5.0L engine, that has 510hp. Don’t get confused by the look of this record breaking XFR, as these aerodynamic modifications were done to meet the safety requirements. Engineers played around with the ECU, air intakes, exhaust system, and supercharger settings. These changes boosted the power to around 600 hp. The transmission and the tires were stock. So it just shows what the engine and the gearbox are really capable of. Though it would be interesting to know what would have been the top speed if the engine had been left 100 % stock.
Here's the video of the 225mph run.
