New Reveal At Geneva : Mazda3 MPS (Mazdaspeed3 in the U.S.) and Mazda3 i-stop

Mazda introduced two interesting versions of the all-new Mazda3 at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
First one is the Mazda3 MPS (Mazdaspeed3 in the U.S.) for customers who look for more performance compared to the standard version. The MPS will be powered by the same 2.3L Turbocharged MZR engine as the predecessor MPS. Nevertheless, this new Mazda3 MPS packs 260hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. That's such a strong combination that it could hit 155 mph and 60 mph comes in just 6.1 seconds. Because the engine is only a 4-cylinder, fuel-economy comes in at 26 mpg.. So the MPS will go against the Subaru Impreza WRX, and the Volkswagen R32. However, because it's FWD and as the car is lighter than its predecessor , we think it hits directly into the new 300hp Ford Focus RS.
Exterior changes compared to the beautiful base model include deeper bumpers, side sills, twin exhausts, hood scoop and large rear spoiler. Overall, MPS is more aggressive than the bog standard Mazda3.
The second model that Mazda will be releasing is the all-new Mazda3 i-stop. It's a combination of the new i-stop technology (which is basically a start-stop engine technology) and a 2.0L DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) MZR engine.
With the i-stop green technology, the engine can stop and run again in just 0.35 seconds; it'll most be used in traffic lights that helps in making lower urban cycle and saving fuel. Together (i-stop and DISI engine), these two Mazda proprietary green technologies help the new model achieve approximately 14% lower urban cycle and achieve well over 30 mpg.
