On the outside, other than the facelift, the 2010 Octavia RS models feature a redesigned front mask with an RS logo and reshaped headlights that, for the first time in the RS version, can be fitted with xenon units combined with an adaptive front lighting module. The RS also gets restyled bumpers and taillights while Skoda also offers a new metallic paint and 18-inch Neptune alloy wheels. In the interior, Skoda has revised the Octavia RS's trim while the Climatronic air conditioning system gets new controls.
Although the Octavia is bigger than the Golf GTI, Skoda claims that the acceleration, top speed, and fuel economy numbers are the same as the 2.0L turbocharged TSI engine as in the GTI. So with 200 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque that are mated to a 6-speed double-clutch DSG transmission, the Skoda Octavia RS will hit 60 mph in 7 seconds, top out at 140 mph, and achieve 31.4 mpg.

That's not all, the RS package can also be fitted to a 2.0L turbocharged TDI diesel that is also founded in the VW Golf GTD. With less horsepower than the Octavia RS petrol, but more torque, at 170 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, the Skoda Octavia RS diesel will scamp to 60 mph in 8.1 seconds, reach 138 mph, and manage 41.3 mpg of fuel economy.
To sum up then, the Skoda Octavia TSI or TDI, are basically Golf GTI and GTD, with a less Czech posh name, cheaper price tag, and a lot more practicality with either a sedan or wagon shapes. It's a hot hatch, for the poor family man.
