Official : Ford cancels shipment of Focus RS to the U.S. market !

In an interview with Britain's Autocar magazine, Ford's recently appointed Global Performance Vehicles and Motorsport Business Development director, Jost Capito, confirmed that the company has no plans on selling the new 300 hp high-performance Ford Focus RS in the United States.

"We'd like to, but the base car isn't homologated for North America, and that's too costly a job to carry out just for a niche vehicle like the RS," said Capito.

Nevertheless, the European-built Focus RS has been caught in the streets of Michigan, U.S. Interestingly, in another Ford press, Ford clarified that while the all-new Focus RS just introduced in Europe won't be for sale in the U.S., "Ford intends to bring some new RS" to the US. So could it possibly that the white Focus RS seen in Michigan be an American RS prototype that 'maybe' has Ford's all-new EcoBoost technology? Well, all we know for now that the Focus RS that we loved will only be sold in Europe. But 'maybe' the up-coming American RS could be even better.
