New Sketches : Volkswagen new mid-size sedan to be built in Tennessee

Volkswagen today dropped a sketch of the new mid-sized sedan it plans on building at its new factory that is currently under construction in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

It is reported that the mid-sized sedan will be slightly larger than the Passat and Passat CC. Production will kick off in 2011 when the doors to the Chattanooga factory open. The German automaker plans on building 150,000 units annually most of which will be sold in the U.S. and Canada.

Jochem Heizmann, head of production on the new model said that this sharp-looking sedan will be offered in a dual-clutch transmission and will come in two offerings - a gasoline direct injection and direct-injection turbo-diesel.
