No more spy photos and official teasers. First official images of the Rolls-Royce 200EX Concept are finally here. As we know from previous Rolls concepts, this 200EX is not just a concept, it is a preview for the production version which will go on sale beginning of 2010.
In its spy shots form, the car was code-named the "RR4" and was called the "baby Rolls". Now though, in its concept form its the 200EX, and when it hits production rumors that it could be called "Silver Ghost".
Ofcourse, this baby Rolls isn't a baby at all. Based on a unique chassis, it shares lots of components from its cousin, the BMW 7-Series. To be exact, the 200EX uses 20% of all components including electrics that are shared with BMW cars. The 200EX also has a new heart.
Nearly all Rolls-Royces have used the same engine, which is the 5.75L V12. This 200EX gets an all-new 6.0L V12 from BMW. However in the Rolls 200EX, it is specially tuned for Rolls-Royce but will also be offered later in the new 7-Series.
Most importantly, the baby 200EX Rolls has kept its rear coach “suicide” doors! Production ready -Silver Ghost- is expected to debut this fall at the Frankfurt Auto Show. But as we said, the 200EX Concept will make its world debut at next month's 2009 Geneva Motor Show. So when it rolls production, this new model is also expexted to double Rolls-Royce sales in 2010. Until we get more details enjoy the first official images. We are excited!
