Jeremy Clarkson's Car of the Year: the Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1

As BBC's Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson, we all care about what he says on a car. And he usually says harsh things about American cars. That they are plasticy, badly-made, and don't handle very well. However this time when Top Gear went to its second visit to America, he got his hands on Chevy's ultimate ZR-1. So he changed his mind.

Infact, he was fond of the ZR-1 so much, he named it the best car of 2008. He described the ZR-1 as "Cheap, plastic and at the right time, and in the right place, sort of just what you want.". More over, people who watch Top Gear have already seen Clarkson discover what fun can be had with the ZR-1 on Nevada’s mountain roads.

What made him also make the ZR-1 car of 2008, is the combination of beautiful looks and stunning performance. He described it as "there is simply no other car that looks this good, goes this fast – in a straight line and around corners – and that most of the time bumbles about like a forgetful uncle. And when you throw in the price tag of just £106,690 – lots for a Corvette but modest next to a similarly powerful Ferrari".

So really, Chevrolet has made an astonishing achievement. Convincing a man who mostly doesn't like American cars - who is hard to convince anyways - and made him like the 'Vette ZR-1.
