New Reveal : 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia

Introduction:
After all the spy shots and leaked images, Ferrari has finally unveiled its replacement for the F430 with the much-anticipated 458 Italia. Named '458 Italia' with the figure representing the displacement and number of cylinders of the engine, but we need to first talk about the new design.
Design:
Like all new Prancing Horse supercars designed by Pininfarina, the Ferrari 458 Italia is styled to put the requirements for aerodynamic efficiency as a priority. So while the front-end with carbon-fiber bumper, cut-outs on the hood, highly-shaped roof, muscular-line on the side, and the air-vents out back, may look busy, but at least they are functional. In fact, Ferrari claims that the car generates 140kg of downforce at 200km/h (124mph). Ferrari also features slacks at the nose of the 458 Italia, so it stables the car as the speed increases. It's not all mathematics though, the triple-central exhausts are purely inspired by the all-time great, the F40. Ferrari still needs to show more pictures of the interior, but the shot with the F1-like steering wheel cockpit gives the first-impression that the interior is going to great.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance:
So, lets analyse the name we got here, Ferrari 458 Italia. Now, Italia was added to make sure that this a pure Italian horse, built in Maranello. The 8 is translated as 8-cylinders, and 45 is the engine displacement, a 4.5L V8 engine. Although the 458 Italia's engine is only 0.2L bigger than the F430, it a damn sight more powerful. 570 hp and 398 lb-ft, coming in a screaming red-line of 9,000 rpm. Nonetheless, Ferrari says that over 80% of that power comes as early 3,250 rpm. So, we reckon that this could actually be quite, but yet stunningly fast. Equipped with direct-injection and a 7-speed dual-clutch F1 transmission out of last-year's California, the 458 Italia will be able to hit 60 mph in a mind-blowing 3.4 seconds, on-wards to 202 mph. Despite Ferrari buyers careless about fuel-economy, Ferrari claims that the new 458 Italia will be significantly more fuel-efficient that its predecessor, at 17.1 mpg.
Handling and Braking:
Maranello's new supercar features the latest generation of the E-Diff, F1-Trac and ABS systems which are now all controlled by the same ECU with Ferrari supporting, that the 458 Italia produces 32% more longitudinal acceleration out of corners compared to previous F430. As for stopping-power, the 459's brakes feature what the company describes as a "prefill function" whereby the pistons in the callipers move the pads into contact with the discs on lift off to minimise delay in the brakes being applied. This results in a reduced 60-to-0 mph in only 106 feet.
World premiere in Frankfurt:
The world premiere of the Ferrari 458 Italia will be held this September at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Ferrari will release more information, and surely more photos. Expect Ferrari to release the 458 Italia to the showrooms sometime in 2010, as a 2011 model year.
