Put simply, this is a two-wheeler sit-down motorcycle, but has a steering wheel. Nevertheless, it's more complicated than that. The P.U.M.A. project is an electrically powered two-seater sub-car that has two wheels. GM claims that this will allow people to travel faster and with lower cost around cities.
On Segway's side, there's the technology. The electric motor has a range of 35 miles (56 km), and will reach a top speed of 35 mph. According to Segway, people who usually drive from home to work on a daily basis won't travel more than 35 miles, and with constant traffic lights, their average speed is about 35 mph. So Segway are proofing a point just there.
With a partner like Segway, we could actually see it on sale in the near future. Nevertheless, this is still an early prototype. The final production should look like the imagining rendering above.
