Aston Martin's Racing division has revealed the 2009 specification Vantage GT4 race car that's based on the firm's latest 4.7L V8 Vantage model. Set to replace the outgoing 4.3-liter Vantage N24, Aston Martin's new competition car has been built to FIA GT4 regulations. It's aimed at racing professional and rich businessman who think they're professional, so it's prices start at $143,000.
The GT4 makes good use of the new Vantage's 4.7L V8 engine that has been upgraded with a free flow exhaust system and air filters. It's matted to either a 6-speed manual, or a Sportshift automatic with manual paddle controls. Both versions have a Valeo twin-plate cerametallic racing clutch and lightweight flywheel to complete the powertrain specification. So the 420hp from the standard Vantage, comes at earlier RPMs in this GT4.
Because this is a racing car, the GT4 is 300kg lighter than the standard V8 Vantage. Now it's sitting the ground with 1,330kg of weight. Also, high-strength steel rollcage and Recaro competition seats are fitted to the car. Aston Martin Racing team also fiddled with the suspension setting. Such as fitting a larger diameter front and rear anti-roll bars and adjustable ride height aluminium dampers, as well as single rate, flat ground springs with separate helper springs. look out for this Aston for next year's GT4 racing sires.
