Look at the last car-related post; 28th November, 2009. Well, today it's 28th November, 2010. Yes, it's been 1 year since we haven't covered car news. It's sad, but I got cramped with a lot of work, that writing for Motor Gears wasn't my priority for the time being. I'm sorry.

However, Motor Gears will be back on the road to cover car news, and a new format. Just stay tuned, please.

Missed: The future of Cyrsler/Fiat - REPORT

While we were off, Fiat announced what were they going to do with Chrysler, now they own it. Of course, Fiat CEO - Sergio Marchionne, said this future plans for Chrysler is for the next 5 years. So here goes:

Starting off with the loans that the U.S Government has given Chrysler, Marchionne promised that by 2014, Chrysler would have payed all their $12.4 million loans, and even generated a profit of $5 billion. Chrysler say that they have $5.7 million in-hand.

Chrysler will also be the Fiat's channel to come to U.S. showrooms, as Fiat announced their 500 will be available in U.S. Chrysler dealers in 2010. Also, rebadged Chrysler vehicles (Chrysler 300 to go as Dancia, and Caliber to go as Fiat) will go on sale in Europe within the next year or two. Which hints the reason why Chrysler will be building smaller-sized cars, with fewer V8 engines, and more fuel-efficient 4-cylinders.

Starting with the Chrysler brand, the brand will be getting an all-new logo (image right). Next year, the brand will present the redesigned Sebring and 300 sedans, while in 2012, a new Fiat-based compact sedan will join the range., In 2013, Chrysler will get three new products based on Fiat platforms, including a Fiat Group sourced small car (most likely the Fiat Punto), a successor to the Sebring and a new midsize crossover. An all-new Chrysler-developed Town and Country minivan will be presented in 2014.

Moving to Chrysler's Dodge brand, Marchionne announced the official split of the brand into two cores - Dodge car brand, and Ram Truck brand. As for the car brand, Dodge will be unveiling refreshed versions of the Avenger and Journey, along with a fully redesigned Charger (teaser image right) sedan and a new fullsize CUV. The Nitro will receive a facelift in 2011, as will the Challenger pony car, while the Viper will be freshened up in 2012, and will only produce 500 more units. The same year will see the introduction of a new Fiat-based compact sedan that will replace the Caliber which will be discontinued after 2012. Dodge will get yet two more Fiat-based models, a small car and a replacement for the Avenger sedan. The Grand Caravan will be replaced with a new model in 2014.

As for Ram Truck brand, plans include the possible presentation of a new mid-size pickup truck based on a car platform in 2011, and the launch of Fiat-based small and large commercial vans in 2012. Furthermore, the company said that it will discontinue the production of the Dakota in mid-2011.

And finally, Jeep. In 2010, aside from the market launch of the new Grand Cherokee, the Patriot, Compass, Wrangler and Liberty will be freshened. The following year, the Wrangler will receive another update including a new interior. 2013 will see the Jeep brand receiving three new models based on Fiat platforms including a small SUV, a common replacement for the Patriot and Compass, and a new Liberty. The Commander will most likely be dropped off in 2011.

Missed: Highlights of 2009 Tokyo Motor Show

We're back! However, we've missed out quite a lot. So we're starting off quick! Here goes:

Although the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show reveals have ended for some time now, we can still cover it up. Well the Japanese doors have closed, and we could happily say that this was one of the best shows to come out of Tokyo in the last several years. Previously, the show was mainly about futuristic concepts that actually have no future as retail cars. This year, there's still a handful of concepts, but with big promises to come to productions, as well as some really cool sportscars.

* 2010 Alpina BMW B7 BiTurbo: Alpina is best known for spicing-up BMWs. Well now, they got they're hands on a 2010 BMW 750iL, and look what they've done to it! Extended body-kit, 21-inch bespoke Alpina wheels, a sporty lip-spoiler, and oh; a tuned-up twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8, that now makes 507 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Alpina say that this big Bimmer can hit 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds!

* 2010 Caterham CSR 175: Although Caterham lightweight sportscars may seem very basic and traditional, they're actually somewhat expensive. To put it bluntly, a top-range CSR 260 costs well over $50,000; and that is just way too expensive for a roadster that only offers very little in terms of daily-drivability. Well, the folks at Caterham have decided to add a buttom rug, that to make owning a Caterham more affordable. So, here it is; the CSR 175. As the name suggests, this little superlight roadster develops 175 hp from a Ford-sourced 2.3L Duratec 4-cylinder engine. For a car that weighs less than 1,000 kilograms, this thing can still accelerate like a proper supercar! With that little weight and a stiff chassis like all Chaterhams, it also handles like a LeMans' racecar as well.

* 2009 Honda Skydeck Concept: Honda say that this concept could be the next-generation Honda Odyssey. Of course though, the scissor doors, the futuristic thin seats, and the screens all around the dashboard won't come in the next Odyssey. Nonetheless, Honda claims that the Odyssey will share inspiration with the Skydeck Concept in terms of styling, and the hybrid drivetrain.

* 2009 Honda CR-Z Concept: Although it shares its name with the 2007 CR-Z Concept, this CR-Z is actually a pre-production vehicle that will hit showrooms next year, and the successor to the old ricer-legend CR-X. The new CR-Z mimics some styling cues of the CR-X, but in a up-scale look. As for power, Honda said that the CR-Z will be more powerful than the CR-X, and therefore, faster. However, the new CR-Z will be more -wait for it- economical! How? The new CR-Z will be powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine, mated to a battery-powered electric hybrid powertrain. What's very clever here, that it features a world first. The new CR-Z will be the world's first hybrid to have a shift-yourself 6-speed manual transmission! Unfortunately, we probably won't hear any official numbers on the drivetrain's output or its mileage until closer to lunch in 2010.

* 2010 Lexus LFA: It's been 3 years of non-stop teasing and fully-camouflaged spy shots, but nothing prepare us for this - the 2010 Lexus LFA. It's finally here, and here very strong. So why create a $375,000 supercar in this time of year? Well, Toyota say that this is to upscale the image of Lexus even more. It's also one really fast supercar! Weighing in at 3,263 pounds, the front-mounted 4.8L V10, which produces 560 hp at a screaming 9000 rpms and 354 lb-ft of torque, can sprint to 60 mph in a 'wow' 3.7 seconds, and will continue up to 202 mph. Controlling that power, is a 6-speed sequential transmission, which sends power to the rear-wheels only. Moreover, driving the LFA will excite even more with a one-off bespoke Lexus interior with screen gauges, and a two-tone leather interior with shades of carbon-fiber. So then, if you got $375,000 in your wallet, better behave fast, since Lexus will only produce 500 units. And that, makes the Lexus LFA, the only real supercar to come from Japan!

* 2009 Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV: In its main-steam products, the Outlander is probably Mitsubishi's most successful crossover. So, it makes sense in Tokyo show, that Mitsubishi hints on the next-generation Outlander, with this Concept PX-MiEV. Mitsubishi say that the PX-MiEV scores a new design direction for them, which is 'refinement'. So all shapes inside and out look somewhat edgy, and elegant at the same time. Nonetheless, Mitsubishi's real score is in the drive-train, as this PX-MiEV has a 1.6L petrol engine connected to a battery-powered electric engine, making this Mitsubishi's first hybrid crossover. If you really like what you see here, then you should get excited for the next-gen Outlander.

* 2010 Nissan GT-R: It just looks exactly identical to the 2008 GT-R; so what's the change? For 2010, Nissan has fettled the suspension setup (front shocks and springs have been tweaked for increased "accuracy", and the rear-suspension has been stiffened), fitted higher-flow cats to the exhaust system for improved low- and mid-range response, and they've also added a next-generation hard-drive based navigation system that includes iPod connectivity. What's move, the twin-turbocharged 3.8L V6 gets a 5 hp increase, making the total of 485 hp. However, the most significant difference in the revised GT-R, is the price tag; now starting at around $80,000. So it isn't the cheap supercar anymore!

* 2009 Nissan Land Glider Concept: Nissan CEO - Carlos Ghosn - surprised all Tokyo Motor Show audience with this - 2009 Land Glider Concept. Why this big fuss? Well first off, it looks kind of weird - the motorcycle-like horizontal two-seater setup in a car is still unfamiliar. Also like a motorcycle, the Land Glider leans up to 17 degrees to handle a corner. Powering the Land Glider is a clever electric engine, which features a non-contact charging system, meaning that drivers won't have to fiddle with any plugs, they can just pull into designated charging spaces. Moreover, because the Land Glider is lightweight, and the electric engine is torquey, Nissan say that this concept will be pretty quick for an electric vehicle. However, the biggest surprise of all, that Ghosn said this is not some 20-year lifetime concept, and that the Land Glider will come into production some time next year!

* 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Carbon: When this new-gen Impreza WRX STi came in the new hatchback styling, many criticized it that it just became a softy. So, Subaru went back to the drawing board, and came up with this new special version - the WRX STi Carbon edition. Carbon edition brings down the center of gravity, with a carbon fiber-made roof. What's more, to make it compete with its Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, the WRX STi Carbon has a 5-speed automatic with paddle-shifters. Subaru say that the 305 hp 2.5L turbocharged flat-4 will still crack 60 mph in a mere 4.8 seconds.

* 2009 Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept: Subaru isn't really known for producing any kind of minivans. So what are they saying about this Hybrid Tourer Concept? It's Subaru's first attempt to design a sporty-look-like minivan. The Hybrid Tourer Concept also spots gullwing doors, and a hybrid drivetrain with Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive system and a Lineatronic CVT transmission.

* 2009 Suzusho Supasse-V: Never heard of Suzusho? Well we didn't hear of them either! However, Japan is full of local automakers that don't seem to oversea their vehicles. Well this Supasse-V is a Japanese race-car for the road! Looking like a race-car, it also has some race-car potentials. Powered by a Mazda-sourced 2.3L turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder, and a 6-speed manual, the Supasse-V weighs only 850 kilograms. That hints the reason why it can sprint to 60 mph in an astonishing 4 seconds.

* 2009 Toyota FT-86 Concept: The good-old days of drifting an '86 Corolla are back! With this - FT-86 Concept. They say it's a concept, but this is a pre-production mule, which will come to showrooms sometime in 2011. It's a combination of a sexy Toyota 2-door body that channels back some '80s throwbacks, and a 2.0L flat-4 engine from Subaru. Get this though; the FT-86 sends power to the rear-wheels only, through a 6-speed manual! Toyota also say that the chassis is equipped with a limited-slip differential, and designed with drifting in-mind. So Toyota, welcome back to the glory days of fun!

* 2010 Toyota Mark X: There are some Japanese cars that we really want to see them overseas, because we think they could be successful. Here's an example - the Toyota Mark X. What makes the Mark X so special that it's about the best Toyota sedan we encountered with. While it looks like a Camry or an Avalon outside and inside, it's actually a Lexus GS underneath! Yes, this Mark X is rear-wheel-drive Toyota sports-sedan! Powered by either a 203 hp 2.5L V6, or a 315 hp 3.5L V6, the 6-speed automatic transmission in both engines comes with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. So please Toyota, throw-out the cheesy Avalon, and bring us the 'real' sporty Mark X with the healthy 315hp V6.

Many of you have noticed lately, that our news are somewhat "outdated". In fact, for an automotive blog like us, we've been slowing things down. So we are not going to admit that everything is OK. We've been facing some problems with the blog itself, and we're planning on a new structure of the blog. Therefore, Motor Gears will go on a temporary "vacation", and will not post any new news for the time being. We're really sorry for this, but will be back running in full speed, sometime end of November. Don't worry, will post everything you and us missed during this time!

Report : Aston Martin Cygent to start production in 2010, with prices start at $32,000

The global economic and enviromental down-turn has put a big dent on a sports car makers. This is to be seen in many automakers like Porsche, and Aston Martin. As we saw earlier this year, Aston have teased their new city car - Cygent Concept, which is basically a re-badged Toyota iQ. Well, the falling British company says that this concept has plans to go into real production!

Automotive News has reports that Aston Martin have already started producing test-mules of the tiny Cygent city car, and it will be on sale next year. Aston Martin says that their Cygent “will offer customers a distinctive, intelligent and exclusive solution for urban travel in style and luxury” and is “based on the critically acclaimed Toyota iQ with a Euro NCAP 5-star safety package.”

Toyota will be shipping assembled iQ units to Aston’s Gaydon, England plant. Aston will then upgrade the interior and exterior while leaving the mechanicals alone (1.3L, 100 hp, and FWD). Aston Martin say that the Cygent will be sold to customers who already own Aston, but want a practical everyday commuter. Which is why the Cygent will cost around $32,000, or double the price of a Toyota iQ.

New Reveal : 2011 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle

Introduction:
Cops always demand rigid, capable, and yet cheap rear-wheel-drive, full-size sedans. That's exactly the reason why police departments - worldwide - have been buying Ford Crown Victorias for over a decade now. Lately though, new comers like the Dodge Charger Police car have been around, but yet couldn't offer what the Victoria does best. However, Chevrolet want to come into play, and here's their new offering - the 2011 Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle. Police department all around the U.S. will be getting Caprice PPVs in mid 2010.

Design:

Yes, the Caprice is back! Wait, GM said that this all-new Caprice is currently sold only to police departments, but they are considering a retail production edition if impressions are good. This new Caprice is actually so new, that now, it's not American at all! The 2011 Caprice Police is actually a rebadged Holden Statesman, which is actually a stretched long-wheel-base version of the Holden Commodore, which has the original Zeta-platform, that the Pontiac G8, and Chevrolet Lumina aslo have. For your information, this Caprice Police Patrol is exactly the same Chevrolet Caprice being sold in the Middle East. So it looks like a G8 - all the muscular fenders, the aggressive headlights, the quality interior, and sport-bucket seats. This police car looks way more "bad-ass" than the old-school Victoria does.

Powertrain:

Of course, the main feature behind this Caprice PPV, that it has the rear-drive Zeta-platform, which underpins the new 2010 Camaro, the Cadillac CTS, and the surely, the beloved G8. So with that platform, the Caprice PPV should drive like a sports-sedan. A police car has to have a responsive, yet an efficient V8 engine. For the Caprice, it gets the Australian-built 'L98' 6.0L V8, with 355 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque, plus an Active Fuel Management, which can cut cylinders when they aren't needed. Connected to a smooth-shifting 6-speed automatic, the Caprice PPV will hit 60 mph in under 6 seconds, which is certainly way faster than the Crown Vic police car. To make it more capable and reliable at high speeds, GM adds some police specific upgrades, like a high-output alternator, engine oil, transmission and power steering coolers, 18-inch steel wheels with bolt-on center caps, larger four-wheel disc brakes with heavy-duty brake pads, heavy-duty suspension components, police-calibrated stability control system.

RumorMill : 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 to get a twin-turbo 5.0L V8, making 600 hp, and called Road Runner !

It's been a real while, since the Ford Mustang has gotten a real refresh, specially under the hood. Yes, it just had its styling rechange for 2010, but under that power-dome hood, it's still basically the same as the last generation, and the generation before that as well. Even the mighty tuners at Shelby, have gotten a bit lazy lately. The new 2010 Shelby GT500 is surely one tough muscle car, but Shelby only added a couple of modifications to add some extra horsepowers.

Now though, the folks at Ford finally gave the lights to new engines to the Mustang. I'm not talking about Ford's latest EcoBoost engine, but official reports have said that next year's 2011 Mustang will have a new 315 hp 3.7L V6 as base, and the longly-awaited 5.0L Coyote V8 will make into the GT model, packing around 400 hp. Well, as the new changes are going around to the Mustang, so has to the GT500.

Sources say that along with the new 5.0L Coyote V8 in the 2011 Mustang GT, Shelby engineers are throwing away the 540 hp iron-block supercharged 5.4L V8, in-favor of a new twin-turbocharged version of the Coyote, called Road Runner. The new Road Runner V8 engine is expected to produce around 600 hp. However, moving to a twin-turbo system, is a big and risky step to Shelby. After all, GT500-fanatics always adored the supercharger whine! Nonetheless, 600 horses on a Mustang will surely be fantastic.

Ford announced that it will reveal the whole in-line of 2011 Mustang engines, at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. For truth-waiters, LA Show is less than a month away, so stay tuned.

Video : IIHS celebrates 50th anniversary by crashing a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu into a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) wanted to showcase what 50 years has done to car safety. They've exactly done that, by a crash-test. Though this is not the usual crash-test.

The folks at IIHS have decided to head-crash a modern 2009 Chevrolet Malibu, into a vintage 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air. So 50 years seperate these two cars. The results were eye-opening from the video (watch below). Both cars were going the same speed, making the impact the same, on both driver sides. However, with Malibu's new "H frame" structual body shell, the chassis wasn't colapsed, and therefore, the driver and the passengers would walk out in this situation. The Bel Air on the other hand, doesn't have any type of modern body frame (just tough metal), the whole chassis and shell was altered. And you can clearly see, that the front of that Malibu actually entered into the Bel Air's cabin, making the driver's and passenger's situation terrible and outright life-threatening.

In essence, this video was done to show everyone - who still believes that old cars are safer - the truth about new modern car safety.

Report : Penske walks away from Saturn deal, and GM forced to kill Saturn brand !

No matter how ready you are expected to hear bad news, it'll always be a shock. Back last summer, when General Motors was crying for some extra cash, it was reported that their Saturn barnd will be sold to Penske Automotive Group. While that was certainly good news, Penske and GM went through a lot of discussion sessions about the supply, maintinance, and labor.

Well after months of discussion, Penske announced that it's mostly worried on future supply of vehicles, and therefore their negotiations with GM about the purchase of Saturn have been canceled. “Since announcing its discussions with GM on June 5, 2009, the company has been in the due diligence process to determine the feasibility of developing an independent distribution model for Saturn-branded products and service parts in the United States, including the sourcing of vehicles from GM and other potential suppliers,” Penske said in a statement. “The company had negotiated a definitive agreement with GM to source vehicles on a contract-manufactured basis for a period of time.”

On GM's side, CEO Fritz Henderson announced that the Saturn brand will be "winding down" the brand, until Saturn finds a new owner. “This is very disappointing news and comes after months of hard work by hundreds of dedicated employees and Saturn retailers who tried to make the new Saturn a reality,” GM CEO Fritz Henderson said in a statement. However, Henderson also stated that customers can still buy Saturn vehicles in dealers, and owners can still have their vehicles serviced. GM is determinded that no jobs will be lost, even after the death of Saturn.

New Reveal : 2011 Ford Super Duty

Introduction:
These are dark days in the pick-up truck segment, as automakers are ditching big engines, wide-track tires, and tough suspension; in-favor for small eco-friendly engines that don't offer enough power, road-comfort tires that lack grip, and messy suspension that can't be shakened to off-road. So trucks these days are more to go to the shops, rather than a clear-off desert or a mountainy forest. However, there's one big exception: Ford. Ford has proved with their new F-150 Raptor SVT, that there's still hope in tough truck market. Well, to complete the circle, Ford has finally dropped official pictures and info on the all-new 2011 Ford Super Duty.

Design:

With a name like Super Duty, Ford's designers weren't going to come-up with something soft. Therefore, the style of the Super Duty is very bulky and tough. Just take a look at the face; the grille and headlights are largest units on any truck, ever! At first glance, they do look a bit odd, but it's something you'd get used to by the time. At back, it's gets classic F-150 styling. After all, this is a highly durable truck, so the styling needs to be technical. Inside, it's get more tech, as it features a 4.2 inch infotainment screen located on the center of the gauge cluster. The screen provides specific truck specifications, such as Trailer Brake Control and Tow Haul. Plus, the Super Duty offers feature comforts like a somewhat luxury truck - top noch leather seats, wood-trim on the dashboard and on the door handles, a 110-volt power inverter, and some-nicely large cup-holders with an open glove-box.

Drive-train:

2011 Super Duty is arriving in days where a big-block engine, is not environmentally acceptable; but Ford engineers seem not to care. As the new Super Duty will feature a petrol-powered Boss 6.2L V8, which makes around 400 hp. The optional engine is the all-new Scorpion 6.7L turbocharged diesel V8, which power is also around 400 hp, but torque will be cracking at over 600 lb-ft of torque. Despite the big sizes, Ford claim that fuel-economy has improved over the outgoing model. These engines are connected through a 6-speed TorqShift automatic, with manual shift controls. The chassis is available with either rear-wheel-drive, and four-wheel-driver. When opt for the four-wheel-drive, the Super Duty gets an Electronic Locking Differential, and Live Drive PTO (Power Take Off) feature. Live Drive PTO allows the engine to power auxiliary equipment like snow plows, cement mixers and tow truck lifts directly through the transmission. With that considered, the 2011 Ford Super Duty truck, should offer world-class truck driving in all truck aspects.

New Reveal : 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Introduction:
Writing about main-stream mid-size family sedans is actually easy, and that's simply because they are all nearly identical. The Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, and even the new Chevrolet Malibu are all somewhat copies of each other. Hyundai was doing the same trick with their Sonata. Now though, with Hyundai aiming on luxury brands, like what they have done in their new Genesis, the all-new 2011 Sonata gets a new character, but still quite sensible underneath.

Exterior Design:
You like it, right? Yes, that is the new 2011 Hyundai Sonata, and it finally looks appealing! Whereas in the older days, a Sonata was a copy of an Accord, the new Sonata with its new "fluidic scupture" style theme, it's now more like a Volkswagen Passat CC. The 4-door coupe roof-line is straight out of the CC, and the headlights and taillights are stretched like in the CC. We have to say; trying to compete with Volkswagen in design is actually not such a bad thing.

Interior Design:

With the interior, Hyundai also raised the bar for their quality, and wanting to aim of those with Lexus and Infiniti. This is clearly evident in the center navigation screen, which seems taken off from the Infiniti G37. On the other hand, the whole design of the interior, does have a Lexus look to it. Again, it's great that Hyundai are raising the standards for main-stream front-wheel-drive mid-size family sedans, and we hope the interior actually feels as good as it looks.

Drivetrain:
Hyundai engineers want to be clever about the powertrain. They don't want those coupish-looks, and the luxury-state interior, to be "spoiled" off by a big gas-guzzling engine, because that's not what customers want nowadays. In its home market and Europe, the 2011 Sonata will have a 2.0L 4-cylinder base engine. The rest of us, will be the 2.4L Theta II GDI petrol engine, which will develop around 180 hp. Hyundai didn't announce the V6 version of this Sonata, but they claim they're working on it. All engine are hatched to a 6-speed automatic transmission, with Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill-start Assist Control. and Brake Assist System come as standard.

Pricing:
As Hyundai is launching the new 2011 Sonata in Korea, prices start at 21.3 million Won to 25.95 million Won ($17,600 to $21,450 U.S.D). Hyundai said that it expected to sell 450,000 units annually in all markets.

'10 Unleashed: Man gets a custom Mustang Tattoo, and a custom 2010 Mustang GT

It's episode 5 of Ford's '10 Unleashed program, where Mustang enthusiats share their "Mustang experience" with the internet world. This is where you see the difference on how people express their passion about cars, and about the Mustang in particular. So, some does that with big shiny wheels, others do it with a loud custom exhaust, and for Daniel Velarde, it's all about tattooing!

24-year-old Daniel Velarde has been a long Mustang fanatic, and always dreamed of his custom 2010 Mustang GT. Also, Velarde wanted to show his love of the Mustang, by tattooing the Mustang horse on his body. The trick here, that his 2010 'Stang got the same tattoo job.

So why does he deserve all this? This was done due to his submitted essay, discribing his "Mustang experience". The chance for you to win is still avalible; just head to 2010mustang.com, and submit a '250 words or less' essay, and maybe you can be featured in the next episode of '10 Unleashed.

As we marked one year since the creation of this blog, it's actually time to refresh it with a new design. So here it is, in an all-new fashion. To be brutally honest, we are not truly experts in web-design; so, we chose a nice and simple Blogger template. As you can see, we now went for a white background design, which actaully makes reading somewhat easier than colored backgrounds. We would also like to note, that many new Motor Gears features are soon to come; just hang on.

After we featured the biggies from Frankfurt like Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, and Volkswagen, it's time to see what some other automakers showed at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Here goes:

- 2010 Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde 1.4 MultiAir: This is not the production MiTo GTA hot-hatch, but it's actually close. This Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde 1.4 MultiAir may look like any MiTo, but Alfa say this will set the foundation of small turbocharged compact hatchbacks. So, what this is MiTo good at? The Quadrifoglio Verde basically gives the MiTo a sporty outfit, which is a pack of 17" satin titanium-finished wheels, darkened headlights and mirrors, sporty interior with bucket seats, and Alfa's latest DNA suspension controls. On the technical side, the 1.4 MultiAir engine, which in essence, is a turbocharged 1.4L 4-cylinder engine, that makes 170 hp. Alfa Romeo showrooms will be recieving MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde editions soon.
- 2010 Aston Martin Rapide: It's finally, in its final production form - the 2010 Aston Martin Rapide. As Aston have promised, the 2010 Rapide looks like the concept we saw back in 2006. So, is still looks like a 4-door DB9, which is actually a good thing. This Rapide is not just a looker though; it's a full-on sports-sedan. Therefore, it packs a hand-built 470 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque 6.0L V12, and it has a 750 liters of luggage space when the seats are folded. While the driver has a 6-speed Touchtronic transmission tp play with, the rear-seats are offered with indiviual tv screens. In essence, this is a pure Aston supercar, that will easily handle a family roadtrip; just like that new Porsche Panamera. First deliveries of the Aston Martin Rapide will commence early in 2010 and will be available globally through Aston Martin's 125 dealership network.
- 2011 Bentley Mulsanne: It's the all-new Grand Bentley, or at least that's what we knew it. Among Bentley's exciting line-up, where does this Mulsanne fit? Well, for starters, the 2011 Bentley Mulsanne is the replacement for the beloved Arnage. What's more, Bentley say that this Mulsanne is a classic revival of the 1930 Bentley 8-Liter. Most notable design cue are the quad LED headlights that echo the classic 8-Liter, and the whole style showcases some Bentley heritage, with newly modern design. Same theory goes to the interior as well. Because, where the dashboard features the classic glossy wood, it also has a 14-speaker audio system, and other high-tech luxury equipment. Under that long hood, sits the grand-old 6¾L V8 engine, which was originally used in the 1968 Rolls Royce Phantom. However, with new modern twin-turbochargers, and a new ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, the Mulsanne gets 505 hp and 752 lb-ft of torque; and all that power is going to the rear-wheels only. The 2011 Bentley Mulsanne will hit showrooms in mid 2010, with prices start at around $300,000.
-2010 Brabus E V12: For anyone who haven't heard of Brabus, they are those crazy German tuning company, specialized for cranking-up Mercedes', and can tune-up a C-Class up to 730 hp! This time around, Brabus got their hands on the new E-Class, and look what they have done to it: full aerodynamic bodykit, with a rear-spoiler and Speed Spads rocker panel for the rear-wheels, matte-black paint on every exterior panel, lowered suspension, and oh, a twin-turbocharged 6.3L V12. Numbers don't get better than this - 800 hp and 1,047 lb-ft of torque; with an electronic torque-limiter, there's still 811 lb-ft of torque to play with. Acceleration too, is way beyond any production super sedan, and even hyper-cars! 60 mph comes in 3.7 seconds, 125 mph in just 9.9 seconds, and 186 mph comes at 23.9 seconds. Top speed? That's 230 mph! However, Brabus say that for tire safety reasons, it's better not to go any faster than 217 mph on public roads. So yes, Brabus are some crazy German auto-tuning company! It's probably you'll never see an E V12, simply because it will be limited to only 10 units, with pricing going for 498,000 Euros.
- 2009 Bugatti Galibier Concept: We saw the teasers, heard the rumors, and even got some speculation renders; but non prepare this: the highly-anticipated 4-door Bugatti Galibier Concept. Though it says that it's a concept, the production version is come very soon, with the same platform, and same engine. Key features to the design, are the chrome door and front-fender panels, and 8 exhaust pipes out back. Inside, it offers 4 seats, with total luxury, wood-inserted dashboard and center console, and a LCD navigation system. The platform features all-wheel-drive, specially developed ceramic brakes and a new suspension design enable the agile, always-sure handling of a saloon of this size. The engine originally comes from the legendary Veryon, so an 8.0L W16 engine; but, instead of turbocharging, the Galibier Concept gets a two stage supercharger. No officials numbers yet, but Bugatti said that this will be the fastest production 4-door sedan in the automotive world, with a top sped of 217 mph.
- 2011 Citroen DS3: Joining the retro compact superminis from the Mini Cooper, and Fiat 500, is this DS3. It channels some of the iconic cues of the '60s DS, and also offers a wide range of paint colors. DS3 is offered with diesel and petrol engines, but top-spec DS3 comes with a turbocharged 1.6L in-line 4-cylinder, with 150 hp. The new DS3 will go on sale in most European markets by early 2010.
- 2009 Citroen REVOLTe Concept: This is another Citroen that also aims on retro styling, and modern technology. This REVOLTe Concept is heavily inspired by the iconic 1979 Citroen 2CV, which is sort of the first real eco-friendly car. So coming to the exterior design, the whole shape is reminiscent to the 2CV, but in a very modern design (sort of like the new Dodge Challenger). Like the original 2CV, the REVOLTe Concept is being showcased as a pure enviromental compact-city car. So it's got a new plug-in hybrid drivetrain, which basically can be setup on normal hybrid-drive, or run in all-electric ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) mode. No info yet on whether the REVOLTe Concept comes to production, but we might see something close in the near future.
- 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia: This will be the replacement to thebeloved F430. It's got an all-new design, a new platform, a new engine, and a new transmission. Powered by a new direct-injection 4.5L V8, which produces 570 hp and 398 lb-ft, the 458 Italia will hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, and will go towards 202 mph. The new 458 is also supported with a new 7-speed dual-clutch F1 transmission. Ferrari F1 also got a new setup for the E-Diff, F1-Trac and ABS systems. Coming to your near-by Ferrari dealer in 2010, as 2011 model year.
- 2009 Fiat 695 Abarth Tributo Ferrari: This Fiat 500 may seem like a compact city car, but it's in fact a super hatchback. This Ferrari-inspired Fiat 500 Abarth gets Ferrari kit inside and out, like 4 exhaust pipes with Ferrari Scuderia strips, and a Ferrari F1-style racing seats with a paddle-shift transmission. Even power is uprated from the 500 Abarth; so now, the turbocharged 1.4L in-line 4-cylinder makes 180 hp. 60 mph should come in less than 7 seconds. For anyone who wants a cheap feel of a Ferrari, this 695 Abarth Tributo Ferrari will be in showrooms soon.
- 2011 Ford C-MAX: While this may look like somewhat near to the Ford iosis MAX Concept car unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, it is in-fact, the production version and new Ford C-Max. This 7-seater minivan is actually based on a stretched wheel-base of the new Ford Focus. Although this C-Max offers hallmarks of comfort, space, and practicality, it still looks very sporty. In fact, the sporty-looks are supported with an all-new 1.6L in-line 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine. With turbocharging and direct-injection, Ford claim that this 1.6 will offer V6 power, with 4-cylinder economy. The Ford C-MAX will be launched in the second half of 2010, and will be the first C-Max to be sold worldwide.
- 2011 Hyundai ix35: While this ix35 is actually the replacement of the old Tucson, it's an entirly new vehicle. Compared to its predecessor, the new ix35 looks much more upscale inside-and-out. Hyundai are also trying to make some sort of trademark design; therefore, the ix35 looks like the Veracruz's smaller brother. Concerning powertrains, ix35 comes in a 166 hp 2.0L engine, or a turbocharged 1.6L in-line 4 with 170 hp. Standard equipment start with a 6-speed automatic transmission, Electronic Stability Program, Downhill Brake Control, and Hill-Start Assist Control. Hyundai revealed that the 2011 ix35 will be manufactured at Kia's Zilina plant in Slovakia. 2011 Hyundai ix35 will be available in dealerships beginning of 2010, with prices start at around $22,000.
- 2009 Hyundai ix-Metro Concept: Hyundai's new Global Design Team have created a concept study, which like all new concepts, is a showcase to enviromently-friendly compacts. Hyundai say that the ix-Metro offers all the practicality, robustness and versatility of a CUV in a stylishly sophisticated package. However, with a 1.0L 3-cylinder engine, this gets outstanding fuel-mileage, and yet the whole cars weighs 950 kilograms, so it can be nippy as well. To benefit most space out of this small comapct, the GDT have adopted a conventional 'suicide door' configuration. ix-Metro is just a concept study, and it's to be kept as a study; so, no production here.
- 2010 Kia Sorento: This is how Kia is tackling with modern 7-seater SUVs, the new 2010 Sorento. In the looks department, Kia has went for a simple conservative look for the Sorento. So there aren't any fens or bulges sticking out of the body, which is a good thing. Kia has also went great lengths into making this new Sorento into a much better cross-over than the out-going Sorento. So now, the new Sorento is actually based on the highly-priased Hyundai Veracruz. Getting to the powertrain, engines vary from 194 hp 2.4L 4-cylinder engine, to a high-output 3.5L V6 with 277 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. The Sorento is already on sale in its home market, and Kia plans to sell 140,000 units from 2010.
- 2010 Lamborghini Reventon Roadster: It's a convertible Lamborghini Reventon. The Reventon coupe is considered as one of the most expensive and exclusive supercars. Well, the Reventon Roadster is even more expensive, and more exclusive. The Reventon Roadster keeps the same looks as the coupe variant, and which also keeps the same structural rigidity and all-wheel-drive system. Reventon Roadster is actually powered by a 670 hp 6.5L V12 out of the 2010 Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. 60 mph comes up after 3.4 seconds, and top speed is 205 mph. Each Lamborghini Reventón Roadster will be sold for 1.1 Million Euro (without taxes), which less than 20 units will be made, and sold for "Lamborghini friends and collectors." Deliveries will begin October 2009.
- 2009 Lexus LF-Ch Concept: Lexus is trying to aim their new products to younger-aged buyers, to improve badge-image. So while this may be a concept for now, it will come to production plant in a few years. This Lexus LF-Ch Concept hatchback is a showcase, to what Lexus is planning to make a rival to the BMW 1-Series and Audi A3. The Lexus LF-Ch Concept features a full-on hybrid system, so that it can run on fully EV mode for some time. Despite being a hybrid, Lexus claim that the LF-Ch Concept has a sporty driving characteristics. To determine on whether the LF-Ch would go into production, Lexus is running online serveys, to see if people are having a good impression on this the new Lexus hatch.
- 2011 Maserati GranCabrio: The GranCabrio is the convertible GranTurismo. So it means that it shares the same looks as the GranTurismo, and also the same drive-train. The tractable roof is cloth, and will operate within few seconds. GranCabrio is a little heavier than GranTurismo, because Maserati had to had strengthen beams. However, GranCabrio is only offered with a 440 hp 4.7L V8, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. GranCabrio will hit 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, and crack 184 mph. All that, plus, the beautiful Italian V8 exhaust note is directly channeled through the cabin. Maserati also claims that this is the largest 4-seater production convertible.
- 2009 Mazda MX-5 Superlight Concept: This is a concept study, that Mazda say will consider in the future if fans and customers are interested. This MX-5 Superlight Concept is a speedster MX-5 Miata. So no roof, no windshield, no driver aids; plus, a total curb weight of only 940 kilograms. The MX-5 Superlight Concept tries to import those old days of the '40s - '50s Formula-One cars, but with hints of newly modern MX-5 cues. Power comes from a 1.8L in-line 4-cylinder, with 126 hp. While that might not sound as much, this is just a pure racing automobile. So it may not be super fast, but it's certainly a fun job.
2011 McLaren MP4-12C: This is a moment we have all been waiting for; an all-new McLaren. However, even McLaren say, that this MP4-12C won't be as legandary as their 240 mph F1, and won't be even a successor. The MP4-12C is in fact, a daily-driver McLaren supercar. So McLaren are getting in the mix, with a modest-looking British supercar. The interior too, is very tpical with quite supercar material, like carbon-fiber on the door instruments, center console, and dashboard, with a navigation system. Power comes with a McLaren-built twin-turbocharged 3.8L V8, packing 600 hp and driven through the rear-wheels via a McLaren 7-speed Seamless Shift dual clutch transmission (SSG). The brakes and chassis on the MP4-12C have been designed with the McLaren Formula-One team, and even shares some parts with the Formula-One car. Nonetheless, to make this McLaren a drivable supercar, the new engine is consided the most fuel-efficient engine ever. As it produces 600 hp, and actually has the lowest CO2 emission among competitors. Competition comes from Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4.
- 2009 Mini Coupe Concept: While Mini say that this a concept, this Mini Coupe Concept is actually a production-capable car, and will see production next year. The Mini Coupe Concept is loosly based on a Mini Cooper hatchback, but in a new roof style, and the emulation of the rear-seats, to make this Coupe Concept a 2-seater. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.6L engine, making 211 hp, through a 6-speed manual and a front-wheel-drive chassis. The Mini Coupe is set to be a rival to the base Audi TT.
- 2011 Peugeot RCZ: When Peugeot showcased the 308 RC Z Concept back in 2007, it wasn't taken so seriously. However now, it's here, in-full production, and it doesn't seem altered from that concept we all liked. The new RCZ coupe lives-up strong as a coupe, as it features aggressive face, wide wheel-arches, and the famous bubble roof. Peugeot mostly used the word "passion" when designing this car from inside-and-out. Even the interior looks so supercar-like, as the feeling inside is tight and only has 2-seats. However, all these impressions are not so with the drivetrain. Peugeot say that while this looks wonderful, it shouldn't be spoiled with a dangerous engine or a hard-edge driving characteristics. So, the RCZ is actually powered by a turbocharged 1.6L engine, making 200 hp, and transferring power to an all-wheel-drive chassis. Therefore, it can be easily be driven like any car on the road, and yet look one of the most exclusive. RCZ should be in European markets in mid 2010.
- 2009 Renault Fluence ZE Concept: This is not is just any Renault Fluence. This Fluence may have the concept name for now, but it is expected that the new ZE Concept will follow the Fluence's range of petrol and diesel engines soon. So what is the ZE really? You guessed it; an all-electric drive version! Renault chose the Fluence platform, as it's their benchmark mid-size sedan. Therefore, it gets all the family business done, and yet features the electric moveability. For the electric-drive, Renault have used the commonly-used Lithium-ion battery-pack, which produces 95 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque. Driving-range is allowed for 100 miles, and recharging takes roughly 4 hours, but 80% of the battery is recharged within 20 minutes only. If Renault can really transfer this technology onto the real Fluennce, and with a resnoable price, we think it can be a hit.
- 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost: The production version of the Rolls-Royce 200EX, here it is, in a new Ghost name. This "baby-Rolls" is set to be more afforable than a Phantom, but yet offer pure Rolls-Royce elegance. While it's still looks like a Rolls, the Ghost is in fact, based on the new BMW 7-Series. So the Ghost might be even sporty! Nevertheless, it's powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.6L V12, developing 563 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 60 mph comes in just 4.7 seconds with a top-speed electronically governed at 155 mph. The engine is mated to a 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. For those of you wondering, the Rolls-Royce Ghost manages an estimated fuel-economy of 17 mpg. Orders have already been taken, with prices range between 200,000 and 300,000 euros. Buyers will have a choice of 12 exterior colors, each of which can be contrasted by an available Silver Satin hood.

- 2010 Saab 9-5 Sedan: While this is an all-new Saab, it's in fact, the last Saab that will ever to come-out of General Motors, as Koenigsegg now has full control and ow nership of Saab. The 9-5's exterior styling has been inspired by the Aero X concept car while the windshield and roof are reminiscent of the classic 900 model. Inside, Saab owners will feel right at home with the traditional, driver-focused cockpit that features an aircraft-inspired head-up information display. Beneath that body, lives GM's Epsilon II platform, that is shared with the Opel Insignia, and Buick LaCrosse, though the 9-5 actually has a longer wheel-base. Engines vary from diesel and petrol, though the 2010 9-5 is best with the new twin-turbocharged 2.8L V6 making 300 hp, mated to a 6-speed automatic and Haldex all-wheel drive system.

- 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado: For all who live in the Middle East, know that there are two versions of the Toyota Land Cruiser; there's the original Land Cruiser, and the slightly-smaller Land Cruiser Prado. The Prado has remained since 2002 unchanged, so this 2010 is getting Toyota's latest make-up in design, and drive-trains. As usual, Toyota has gone for a massaging routine as opposed to brute force for the exterior. A reshaped front fascia and new tail-lights, make the Prado look very close to the Land Cruiser. This third-generation Toyota Prado will get Toyota's new engines. Base model should get a 2.7L 4-cylinder engine, and up-scale model will get a more powerful 4.0L V6. In the Middle East, the Pardo is already on sale, with prices going around 130,000 Saudi Riyals ($34,930 U.S.D).

Volkswagen @ Frankfurt: 2009 E-Up Concept, 2009 L1 Concept, 2010 Golf R

- 2009 Volkswagen E-Up Concept: This compact city car concept from VW could actually be a production platform for the next-generation VW Beetle, and also, a some future compacts as well. So, what does it pack? VW say that the E-Up Concept follows VW's new "design DNA", which basically claim that VW could make an ultra-compact look appeling, and somewhat desirable. However, the E-Up Concept's main mission, is to deliver that "zero-emissions" technical showcase. E-Up Concept is powered by a continuously-variable electric motor, which drives the front-wheels, and packs 80 hp and 154 lb-ft of torque. Because E-Up is so small, and only weighs 1,085 kilograms, 60 mph comes up in 11.2 seconds, and will top-out at 83 mph. Nonetheless, as this is only a city compact with 154 lb-ft of torque, VW say that it can launch to 30 mph in a quick 3.5 seconds. Driving range is allowed for 75 mph. Recharging takes 5 hours in a 240-volt power-outlet, but 80% will be done recharging the battery within an hour. A production will up soon, but for now, this is what the Volkswagen Design Center have showcased in Frankfurt.

- 2009 Volkswagen L1 Concept: Hang on; yes, this is a real car, on a real platform. It's the L1 Concept, and while it may look very very weird, it's under that body what defines it. First off, that 'squeezy' body, which hides the rear-wheels and has somewhat in-line seat design, is actually fully-made of carbon-fiber, and therefore, it's ultra-light, weighing just 380 kilograms. Then there's the world-wonder drive-train; it's a full-on hybrid. Volkswagen say that when the L1 Concept comes out as a showroom car, it will crack as the world's most efficient hybrid! How? Well, the basic recipe for this is a 0.8L TDI turbo-diesel, and a battery-powered electric-motor, making a total power of 53 hp and roughly 100 lb-ft of torque. However, because both the diesel engine and electric motor are placed at the rear, and the electric-motor specially is located between the engine and the transmission, VW were able to fit their 7-speed DSG transmission, allowing for excessive fuel-economy numbers. Add that, plus a start-stop technology, the L1 Concept can crack a combined fuel-economy rating of 157 mpg! That easily makes it the most fuel-efficient hybrid, but it surely doesn't make it the fastest. When it comes in a production form in 2013, a 1.6L TDI engine will be offered as an option.

- 2010 Volkswagen Golf R: Bad news Golf GTI owners, the awaited R-Line edition of Golf is here. However, unlike the last generation Golf R, which had a bullet V6 engine, the new 2010 Golf R is actually based on the new Scirocco R; so, it comes with a 2.0L turbocharged engine, with 265 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. With VW's 7-Speed DSG transmission, the Golf R will sprint to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds, and also, can achieve 21 mpg fuel-economy rating. All 2010 Golf R models are driven by VW's 4-Matic all-wheel drive system. Beneath the sheetmetall, Volkswagen's engineers upgraded the Golf's chassis with a lower suspension that features new dampers and springs, improved disc brakes all around measuring 345mm up front and 310mm at the back, plus a new electronic XDS differential. The cosmetic department gives out an extended body-kit, updated LED taillights, sporty 19-inch wheels, and dual center exhaust pipes. Inside, the hot Golf sports a set of front bucket seats, a three-spoke steering wheel with a flattened bottom featuring the 'R' logo, aluminum decorative trim around the center console, plus subtly restyled instrument dials special for the Golf R. . The Volkswagen Golf R can be ordered in Germany starting at the end of 2009, in 3-door and 5-door variants. So in essence, this is the closest rival to the Scirocco R, since they're basically the same thing.

Porsche @ Frankfurt: 2010 911 Sport Classic, 2010 911 Turbo, 911 GT3 RS, 2010 911 GT3 Cup

- 2010 Porsche 911 Sport Classic: This is yet another speical edition Porsche 911. However, Porshce is adament that this is the best special edition yet - a Sport Classic. The 911 Sport Classic pays a tribute to the beloved 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 with unique double-bubble roof, special Fuchs-style 19-inch wheels designed that echo the last 911SC, and a classic “ducktail” style spoiler. The 911 Sport Classic also spots more power out the exhaust system, so now this 911's 3.8L flat-6 packs 408 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque; allowing it to crack 60 mph within 4.6 seconds, and to top-out at 187 mph. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and also features Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, PASM sports suspension. Only 250 units will be made, with a price tag of 169,300 euros.

- 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo: Although very little differences has been made to the exterior and interior, but this 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo is a nearly a new car beneath compared to last year. A new engine, a new transmission, and a new setup to the Turbo's all-wheel-drive system. The 911 Turbo finally gets a direct-injection 3.8L flat-6 engine; with added two varuable turbocharges, it devilers 500 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. So 60 mph is finished in 3.4 seconds, and top speed is over 200 mph. The new transmission is Porsche's latest twin-clutch PDK 7-speed transmission. Porsche also tweaked the all-wheel-drive system for a new setup, that slipts the torque 40% to the front, and 60% to the rear, allowing the Turbo to go sideways. 911 Turbo gets improved fuel-economy by 18%, to make it 25 mpg combined. Prices start $132,800 and $143,800 respectively, with an on-sale date of November 2009 in Germany and January 2010 world-wide.

- 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS: The new 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is here, and as always, it packs out more power, less weight, track-ready suspension and steering, and an increased asking-price from the standard 2010 Porsche 911 GT3. The main priority of the GT3 RS is to deliver the ultimate driving machine, with no "civilization" compromises. So, the GT3 RS comes with a new wider front and rear tracks as well as additional wheel arch covers increase the span across the nose. The larger and racy-like carbon-fiber rear-spoiler gives out even better downfroce from the GT3. Power upgrades come from a naturally-aspirated direct-injection 3.8L flat-6, that makes 450 hp, 20 hp more than the standard GT3. Launch to 60 mph takes less than 4 seconds, and top speed 195 mph. Of course, the Porshce engineers get comfortable around the GT3 RS, since they don't have to care about road-comfort, and focus more on track-balance. So Porshce managements like Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system and the active engine mounts (Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts - PADM) that can change their stiffness and damping effect to resist the movement of the drivetrain in the bodyshell are fitted to the GT3 RS as standard equipment. The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS is expected to go on sale in most European countries at the end of the year, with a price tag of $132,800, or exactly the same price as the 911 Turbo.

- 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup: In essence, this 911 GT3 Cup is basically the race-car version of the 911 GT3 RS, which is also the racy-like 911. Unlike its other siblings, the GT3 Cup is not road-legal, and in fact, is meant to be shown for GT3-series teams. Porsche says that it is stronger, wider and faster than its predecessors. Like the GT3 RS, this GT3 Cup is 1.73-inch wider than the standard 911, and also features wider front wheel arches, and a racing carbon-fiber rear-spoiler. GT3 teams will also be happy, as the new GT3 Cup shares the same 3.8L direct-injection flat-6 engine from GT3 RS. Output is the same, at 450 hp at 8,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a sequential 6-speed manual transmission. The racing teams have to be quick when purchasing this GT3 Cup, as Porsche will be building limited production of it, and a price tag of at 149,850 Euros. So next season GT3 race is going to be more exciting, as this Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will be rivaling the Audi R8 LMS.

Mercedes-Benz @ Frankfurt: 2009 BlueZero E-Cell Plus Concept, 2009 S500 Plug-in Hybrid Concept, 2010 E-Class Estate, 2010 E63 AMG Estate, 2011 SLS AMG

- 2009 Mercedes-Benz BlueZero E-Cell Plus Concept: The near-series Mercedes-Benz BlueZero E-Cell Plus Concept electric car combines environment-friendly electric mobility in the city with unrestricted suitability for long-distance driving. This is made possible by the combination of the battery-electric drive with a combustion engine. The range extender gives the Mercedes-Benz BlueZero E-Cell Plus Concept a total range of up to about 300 miles, with 60 miles thereof solely under electric power and thus free of local emissions. This concept is both an example of clean technology and a preview of the styling for the next generation Mercedes'. For styling, this cuddly city car looks perfectly a Mercedes. It's no S-Class, but the all the traditional Mercedes styling queues are still there. A production of this concept might see life within next year.

- 2009 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid Concept: Although this might have a name of a concept, but this S500 Plug-in Hybrid does have a production sibling, the S400 BlueHYBRID. While the S400 BlueHYBRID was pretty much a conventinal hybrid, this S500 Plug-in Hybrid Concept as it showcases, a range-extender plug-in hybrid; so, it's fully runs on battery-powered electric motors for some distance, and needs be recharged with the combustion engine working. The drivetrain is made-up of a 60 hp hybrid module with a lithium-ion battery, plus a 3.5L petrol V6. Mercedes claim that this S500 Plug-in can run 18 miles solely on electric drive, and will achieve 73 mpg fuel-economy when the V6 is working. Unlike like any hybrid ever made, which all use CVT transmissions, Mercedes were able to fit their 7-speed 7G-TRONIC automatic, so it does 0 - 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds. When this comes to production, it is most likely to replace the S400 BlueHYBRID. Also, Mercedes will also offer this S500 Plug-in Hybrid with a 2.2L diesel engine to give more mileage.

- 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate: Mercedes warped-up the covers of the awaited Estate (wagon) version of the new-generation 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which already has Sedan and Coupevariants. Measuring at 4.8 meters in length, 1.8 meter in width, and 1.4 meters in height is not only larger than the outgoing model, but also the largest estate car in the premium segment. Styling concerned, the E-Class Estate just looks like the new sedan, but with a hatch at the back, which make it resemble theConceptFASCINATION even more. Also like the new E-Class sedan, it boosts-up new Merc technology, such as NECK-PRO crash-responsive head restraints and a newly developed DIRECT CONTROL self-leveling suspension, which features the adaptive damping system, all come as standard equipment in the E-Class Estate. Ten engines range from 2.2L diesel, up to a 388 hp 5.4L V8 with 4-MATIC all-wheel-drive as an option. Sales just started.

- 2010 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Estate: This is what Mercedes' tuning arm - AMG - have done to the latest E-Class Estate. It's basically their same conversion to what they did to the E63 AMG sedan. So, AMG adds an extended AMG body-kit all round with sharper LED lights on the front, edger side skirts, a faux black rear-diffuser at the back with four loud exhausts, and lastly, a hand-built 6.3L V8, producing 525 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. Engine is now mated to an all-new AMG 7-speed dual-clutch Speedshift transmission with rev-matched shifts and RACE START function, which now can handle vicious burn-outs, and 0-60 mph time in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of an electronically-limited 155 mph. Lot of the latest handling characteristics and advanced technologies have been transferred to the E63 AMG Estate. So this benefits it with a new newly developed AMG RIDE Control suspension system with electronically controlled damping, and a 3-stage ESP Program taken from the C63 AMG, allowing the driver to choose between “ESP ON”, “ESP SPORT” and “ESP OFF”. AMG will be delivering the E63 AMG Estate with its sedan sibling.

- 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG: This is the latest supercar creation from Mercedes-Benz. However, unlike their last SLR, which was engineered by McLaren, this new SLS AMG is purly designed and engineered by Mercedes' in-house tuning company - AMG. The looks is somewhat retro to the 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL; specially the Gullwing doors, and the sharp roof. It also catches some design cues of the 2010 Mercedes SL. Inside, the SLS AMG gets a besboquie supercar-like interior. Weighing in at around 1600 kilograms, the new SLS AMG is powered by a natrually-aspirated 6.3L AMG V8, which now produces 571 hp and 480 lb-ft of troque, which goes to the rear-wheels through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed automatic transmission. 60 mph happens in just 3.7 seconds, and electronically-limited top speed is 200 mph. However, because the hand-built 6.3L is actaully very refind, the SLS AMG achieves 21 mpg fuel-economy on combined roads. Handling claims is supported by a 50/50 weight disturbotion, and a 3-stage ESP program like all new AMGs. Sales will start in spring 2010, with prices in Germany start at 177,000 euros.

BMW @ Frankfurt: 2009 Vision EfficientDynamics Concept, 2010 320d EfficientDynamics, 2010 ActiveHybrid 7, 2010 ActiveHybrid X6, 2011 X1

- 2009 BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept: This is a concept that BMW will probably never make, but it's a showcase of BMW's future. While it's made out of glass and other thin materials, the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept is set to be an extremely sporty enviromently-friendly automobile. BMW have fitted the EfficientDynamics with a plug-in hybrid system technology; so, it runs entirely electrical for a certain distance, and then the combustion engine comes in as a range-extender. The electric motor comes in the form of two battery-powered electric motors, which one is fitted to the front-axle, and the other goes to the rear-axle. The combustion-engine on the other hand, is a 1.5L turbo-diesel 3-cylinder. Total output is 356 hp and 590 lb-ft. With 0-60 mph comes in 4.8 seconds, and 155 mph top speed, the EfficientDynamics is as fast as a BMW M3, while it still offers 31 miles in electric-drive, and 63 mpg when the hybrid system continues, which is actually better than a Toyota Prius! We won't ever see a production of this beautiful M1-retro-looking EfficientDynamics, but BMW say that the technology could pass onto realistic Bimmers.

- 2010 BMW 320d EfficientDynamics: Now, this is a sort of realistic version of that Vision EfficientDynamics Concept. This 3-Series uses BMW's EfficientDynamics technology; with common-rail diesel engine, variable intake geometry, and an all-aluminium crankcase. That results of a 2.0L turbo-diesel engine that produces 163 hp with 265 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that drives power to the rear-wheels. While 0 to 60 mph comes in a somewhat respectable 8.2 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph, fuel-economy comes in at an outstanding 57 mpg. 320d EfficientDynamics will show in European dealers later this year.

- 2010 BMW ActiveHybrid 7: While we are not entirly impressed with the EfficientDynamics technology, the ActiveHybrid technology what got into our minds the most. BMW have decided to showcase this technology with their most luxurious 7-Series. This ActiveHybrid 7 uses a conventional hybrid-system, which contains a twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8, and two electric motors, with 3-phase nickel-metal hydride batteries, to make the 7-Series faster, yet more economical. For the ActiveHybrid 7, that makes a total output of 465 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque; allowing a 0 - 60 mph sprint in just 4.8 seconds, and 150 mph top speed. Not only is the ActiveHybrid 7 the fastest hybrid in its class, it's also one of the most economical, with combined average fuel-economy of 29 mpg. BMW claim that ActiveHybrid 7 improves about 15% - 20% on the fuel-economy and performance compared to its standard siblings. Also, the ActiveHybrid 7 is capable to go up to 37 mph on the electric-motor alone. Sales of the ActiveHybrid 7 will start end of 2009.

- 2010 BMW ActiveHybrid X6: BMW also fitted the same ActiveHybrid technology in their X6 Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). Like the ActiveHybrid 7, the ActiveHybrid X6 uses a twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8, and the two electric motors, with 3-phase nickel-metal hydride batteries. In the ActiveHybrid X6, the total pack develops 480 hp and 575 lb-ft. 60 mph launch is finished in 5.5 seconds, and the ActiveHybrid X6 can reach 130 mph. Again, the ActiveHybrid X6 is among the fastest crossover hybrids, and very economical, with 25 mpg of combined fuel-economy rating. Dealers will be selling the ActiveHybrid X6 with its ActiveHybrid 7 sibling.

- 2011 BMW X1: Although it was a concept before, but this production BMW X1 is actually the replacement to the X3. In the design department, BMW designers have cleared-off some odd design-lines that was featured in the concept, to change this X1 to a cleaner and more settle style. Just like all BMW interiors, the X1 features stacks of leather on the seats, dashboard, and armrests. X1 also implements BMW's new iDrive 2.0. X1 will be offered in 6 engine options, vriating from a 143 hp 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo-diesel, up to a 258 hp 3.0L in-line 6-cylinder. No word on prices yet, but the X1 compact SUV will be in showrooms next year.

Lastly, BMW already unvieled their 5-Series GranTursimo for some time now, but it was available in BMW's stand anyways. Just want to make sure that everything is covered!

Audi @ Frankfurt: 2009 e-tron Concept, 2010 A5 Sportback, 2011 S5 Sportback, 2011 R8 Spyder

The German motor show at Frankfurt has opened its doors, and oh joy, there's a lot of exciting new reveals to come. Here's the first package, which come from Audi.

- 2009 Audi e-tron Concept: This is the surprise of Frankfurt. It's the e-tron Concept, that shows what Audi can do when it messes around with battery-powered electric motors. So Audi based the electric platform onto the body of an R8, but with some few changes; new headlights, new false grille, and the disappearance of any side and rear gills; plus, there are no exhaust-pipes, because it's 100% electric. Where in the production R8, there's the choice of a V8 or a V10 sitting in the middle, the e-tron Concept has two electric-motors in-place. At the front, where the production R8 has some free luggage space, e-tron Concept has yet another pair of electric-motors, making total of 4 electric-motors in the e-tron Concept. e-tron Concept Quattro all-wheel-drive, as the rear-electric-motors drive the rear-axle, and front-electric-motors drive front-axle. The result: 313 hp, and wait-for-it, 3,319 lb-ft of torque!! That's right, even combining three Bugatti Veyrons won't even match the torque of this e-tron Concept. So it accelerates from 0 - 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, and from 40 - 75 mph in just 4.1 seconds. Audi say that e-tron has a driving-range of roughly 250 kilometers, and recharging would take 2.5 hours. So in the end, this still a concept, and probably to stay.

- 2010 Audi A5 Sportback: It's a new flavor added to the line-up of the A5, which already comes in Coupe and Cabriolet versions. The A5 Sportback adds practicality into the mix of sportiness. So it still looks like a stylish A5 Coupe, but with added extra doors, the rear-seats are now easy to access. The trunk also has been enlarged, yet it also offers Quattro all-wheel-drive. Power varies from a 2.0L TDI turbocharged diesel, till a 265 hp 3.2L FSI petrol V6. The A5 Sportback is currently available in European showrooms.

- 2011 Audi S5 Sportback: This is the S-Line version of the A5 Sportback above. The S5 Sportback adds the usual S-Line accessories, like an extended body-kit, 19-inch wheels, a sportier grille, 4 sporty exhausts, bucket seats, "S5" badges all around the exterior and interior, and of course, a 333 hp supercharged 3.0L TFSI V6. Connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic automatic, and Quattro all-wheel-drive, the S5 Sportback will launch to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, and 155 mph top speed. Nonetheless, this engine will manage 25 mpg fuel-economy, which Audi claim the S5 Sportback as "the best in this power out-put category." Sales start in 2010, with pricing start at 57,900 euros.

- 2011 Audi R8 Spyder: This is the long-awaited convertible version of the daily-driver supercar we all adore - the beautiful R8. Now available with a tractable cloth soft-top, the R8 Spyder maintains all the structual-rigidity of the R8 coupe; but, some weight had been added with the strengthen beams. However, unlike the R8 coupe, which is offered in V8 and V10 forms, the R8 Spyder is currently "only" available with the Lamborghini-sourced 5.2L V10, packing 525 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. With Quattro all-wheel-drive as standard, the R8 Spyder will crack 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, onwards to 195 mph. No plans yet for a V8-powered R8 Spyder; but with this V10, the driver's ears will melt from the direct exhaust of the V10 engine. In essence, the R8 Spyder offers all the supercar punch of the R8 coupe, plus all the feature comforts, but with the top down. Audi showrooms will have the R8 Spyder in sale in first-quarter of 2010, with pricing start at 156,400 euros.

I thought I would be interested in this sort of thing for a month or two, and then it would be trasfared to waste. Well, to me, it was just a blink of an eye, and here it is. ONE YEAR since I started this job, and a year later, this what Motor Gears has achieved:

Report : Chrysler, Hyundai and Mitsubishi end engine manufacturing alliance!

It seems that after the merge of Chrysler and Fiat, Chrysler has to end any deals they had in the past. First notice, that Chrysler have ended collaboration with Nissan, into producing the Armada and Titan. Well, here's more "out-of-deal" collaboration.

Back in 2005, all Chrysler, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi have allied together, to create the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA), which eventually manufactured fuel-efficeint 4-cylinder engines that were avilable in all Chrysler, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi products. However, it was announced by Chrysler, that both Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and Hyundai Motor Company, have sold their interests in the manufacturing alliance to the Chrysler Group. “Going forward, GEMA and its employees will continue to build state-of-the-art engines for Chrysler Group’s line of exciting, fuel efficient vehicles,” Chrysler said in a statement.

Nonetheless, GEMA will now build engines for Chrysler vehicles only, including the Dodge Caliber, Dodge Avenger, the Jeep Compass, and the Jeep Patriot.

Report : 2009 Hyundai Genesis sedan most awarded car of 2009

As we just recieved our own award, this report came in. It seems the folks at Hyundai have been recieving awards for thir luxury Genesis sedan. In fact, the 2009 Hyundai Genesis sedan didn't only win the 2009 North American Car of the Year award, the Genesis was honored 20 more awards as well. That in truth, makes the Genesis sedan "the most awarded car of 2009."

“As the awards accumulated, we realized not only how well designed the Genesis was, but how far the Hyundai brand had come,” said Scott Margason, director of Product & Strategic Planning for Hyundai. “Consumers and automotive industry influencers really embraced the idea of Hyundai producing a luxury product.”

Yes, Motor Gears has been awarded as "Featured Blogger" from CarDekho.com. Car Dekho features car blogs, by judging on a certain post. Our winning post was: New Reveal At Geneva : 2009 Hyundai i20 3-door; 2009 Hyundai ix-onic Concept. So with this award, which we also got a certificate for it, Motor Gears may have a future after all. You never know what could happen someday!

2009 Frankfurt Motor Show Preview

Tomorrow, will be the start of the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, and actually, the start to auto-show season. What does Frankfurt store for us? Well, here's some most interesting cars to be seen tomorrow. As a reminder, as usual, we'll be covering the whole show, so keep tuned to see what's latest in the automotive world.

1) 2010 Audi A5 & S5 Sportback: It's a new flavor to the Audi A5 and S5. This Sportback unlike the Coupe and Cabriolet, has 4-doors, but still in a coupish style. The new Sportback adds practicality, into the mix of the A5's and S5's sporty package. 4) 2009 Bugatti Galibier Concept: This will be the surprise of the Frankfurt Motor Show. We saw the teasers, heard the rumors, and even got some speculation renders; but non prepare this: the highly-anticipated 4-door Bugatti Galibier Concept. Though it says that it's a concept, the production version is come very soon, with the same platform, and same engine. Key features to the design, are the chrome door and front-fender panels, and 8 exhaust pipes out back. Inside, it offers 4 seats, with total luxury, wood-inserted dashboard and center console, and a LCD navigation system. The platform features all-wheel-drive, specially developed ceramic brakes and a new suspension design enable the agile, always-sure handling of a saloon of this size. The engine originally comes from the legendary Veryon, so an 8.0L W16 engine; but, instead of turbocharging, the Galibier Concept gets a two stage supercharger. No officials numbers yet, but Bugatti said that this will be the fastest 4-door sedan in the automotive world, with a top sped of 217 mph.

5) 2011 Citroen DS3: Joining the retro compact superminis from the Mini Cooper, and Fiat 500, is this DS3. It channels some of the iconic cues of the '60s DS, and also offers a wide range of paint colors. DS3 is offered with diesel and petrol engines, but top-spec DS3 comes with a turbocharged 1.6L in-line 4-cylinder, with 150 hp. The new DS3 will go on sale in most European markets by early 2010.

6) 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia: This will be the replacement to the beloved F430. It's got an all-new design, a new platform, a new engine, and a new transmission. Powered by a new direct-injection 4.5L V8, which produces 570 hp and 398 lb-ft, the 458 Italia will hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, and will go towards 202 mph. The new 458 is also supported with a new 7-speed dual-clutch F1 transmission. Ferrari F1 also got a new setup for the E-Diff, F1-Trac and ABS systems.

7) 2009 Fiat 695 Abarth Tributo Ferrari: This Fiat 500 may seem like a compact city car, but it's in fact a super hatchback. This Ferrari-inspired Fiat 500 Abarth gets Ferrari kit inside and out, like 4 exhaust pipes with Ferrari Scuderia strips, and a Ferrari F1-style racing seats with a paddle-shift transmission. Even power is uprated from the 500 Abarth; so now, the turbocharged 1.4L in-line 4-cylinder makes 180 hp. 60 mph should come in less than 7 seconds. For anyone who wants a cheap feel of a Ferrari, this 695 Abarth Tributo Ferrari will come to showrooms after reveal.

8) 2011 Ford C-MAX: While this may look like somewhat near to the Ford iosis MAX Concept car unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, it is in-fact, the production version and new Ford C-Max. This 7-seater minivan is actually based on a stretched wheel-base of the new Ford Focus. Although this C-Max offers hallmarks of comfort, space, and practicality, it still looks very sporty. In fact, the sporty-looks are supported with an all-new 1.6L in-line 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine. With turbocharging and direct-injection, Ford claim that this 1.6 will offer V6 power, with 4-cylinder economy. The Ford C-MAX will be launched in the second half of 2010, and will be the first C-Max to be sold worldwide.

9) 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour: This variant of the Honda Accord is sort of a crossover version, that gets a rear-hatch. Although it underpins the Accord sedan, the body-panels are entirely unique to the Crosstour. The suspension is raised, and Honda's Super-Handling all-wheel-drive system is standard. Honda claim that this Accord Crosstour has the commanding view of the road like an SUV, but the drive like a sports sedan. No information about engines or performance, not even prices; but all that we'll see tomorrow.

10) 2010 Lamborghini Reventon Roadster: It's a convertible Lamborghini Reventon. The Reventon coupe is considered as one of the most expensive and exclusive supercars. Well, the Reventon Roadster is even more expensive, and more exclusive. The Reventon Roadster keeps the same looks as the coupe variant, and which also keeps the same structural rigidity and all-wheel-drive system. Reventon Roadster is actually powered by a 670 hp 6.5L V12 out of the 2010 Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. 60 mph comes up after 3.4 seconds, and top speed is 205 mph. Each Lamborghini Reventón Roadster will be sold for 1.1 Million Euro (without taxes), which less than 20 units will be made, and sold for "Lamborghini friends and collectors." Deliveries will begin October 2009.

11) 2009 Lexus LF-Ch Concept: Lexus is trying to aim their new products to younger-aged buyers, to improve badge-image. So while this may be a concept for now, it will come to production plant in a few years. This Lexus LF-Ch Concept hatchback is a showcase, to what Lexus is planning to make a rival to the BMW 1-Series and Audi A3. The Lexus LF-Ch Concept features a full-on hybrid system, so that it can run on fully EV mode for some time. Despite being a hybrid, Lexus claim that the LF-Ch Concept has a sporty driving characteristics.

12) 2011 Maserati GranCabrio: The GranCabrio is the convertible GranTurismo. So it means that it shares the same looks as the GranTurismo, and also the same drive-train. The tractable roof is cloth, and will operate within few seconds. GranCabrio is a little heavier than GranTurismo, because Maserati had to had strengthen beams. However, GranCabrio is only offered with a 440 hp 4.7L V8, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. GranCabrio will hit 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, and crack 184 mph. All that, plus, the beautiful Italian V8 exhaust note is directly channeled through the cabin. Maserati also claims that this is the largest 4-seater production convertible.

13) 2009 Mazda MX-5 Superlight Concept: This is a concept study, that Mazda say will consider in the future if fans and customers are interested. This MX-5 Superlight Concept is a speedster MX-5 Miata. So no roof, no windshield, no driver aids; plus, a total curb weight of only 940 kilograms. The MX-5 Superlight Concept tries to import those old days of the '40s - '50s Formula-One cars, but with hints of newly modern MX-5 cues. Power comes from a 1.8L in-line 4-cylinder, with 126 hp. While that might not sound as much, this is just a pure racing automobile. So it may not be super fast, but it's certainly a fun job.

14) 2011 McLaren MP4-12C: This is a moment we have all been waiting for; an all-new McLaren. However, even McLaren say, that this MP4-12C won't be as legandary as their 240 mph F1, and won't be even a successor. The MP4-12C is in fact, a daily-driver McLaren supercar. So McLaren are getting in the mix, with a modest-looking british supercar. The interior too, is very tpical with quite supercar material, like carbon-fiber on the door insturments, center console, and dashboard, with a navigation system. Power comes with a McLaren-built twin-turbocharged 3.8L V8, packing 600 hp and driven through the rear-wheels via a McLaren 7-speed Seamless Shift dual clutch transmission (SSG). The brakes and chassis on the MP4-12C have been designed with the McLaren Formula-One team, and even shares some parts with the Formula-One car. Nonetheless, to make this McLaren a drivable supercar, the new engine is consided the most fuel-effiecint engine ever. As it produces 600 hp, and actaully has the lowest CO2 emission among competitors. Competition comes from Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4. No word on prices and showroom debut, but Frankfurt Motor Show is here to reveal those information.

15) 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG: This is the latest supercar creation from Mercedes-Benz. However, unlike their last SLR, which was engineered by McLaren, this new SLS AMG is purly designed and engineered by Mercedes' in-house tuning company - AMG. The looks is somewhat retro to the 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL; specially the Gullwing doors, and the sharp roof. It also catches some design cues of the 2010 Mercedes SL. Inside, the SLS AMG gets a besboquie interior. Weighing in at around 1600 kilograms, the new SLS AMG is powered by a natrually-aspirated 6.3L AMG V8, which now produces 571 hp, which goes to the rear-wheels through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed automatic transmission. 60 mph happens in 3.7 seconds, and electronically-limited top speed is 200 mph. However, because the 6.3L is actaully very refind, the SLS AMG achieves 21 mpg fuel-economy on combined roads. Handling claims is supported by a 50/50 weight disturbotion, and a 3-stage ESP program. Sales will start in spring 2010, with prices in Germany start at 177,000 euros.

16) 2009 Mini Coupe Concept: While Mini say that this a concept, this Mini Coupe Concept is actually a production-capable car, and will see production next year. The Mini Coupe Concept is loosly based on a Mini Cooper hatchback, but in a new roof style, and the emilation of the rear-seats, to make this Coupe Concept a 2-seater. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.6L engine, making 211 hp, through a 6-speed manual and a front-wheel-drive chassis. The Mini Coupe is set to be a rival to the base Audi TT.

17) 2010 Porsche 911 Sport Classic: This is yet another speical edition Porsche 911. However, Porshce is adament that this is the best special edition yet - a Classic. The 911 Sport Classic pays a tribute to the beloved 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 with unique double-bubble roof, special Fuchs-style 19-inch wheels designed that echo the last 911SC, and a classic “ducktail” style spoiler. The 911 Sport Classic also spots more power out the exhaust system, so now this 911's 3.8L flat-6 packs 408 hp. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and also features Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, PASM sports suspension. Only 250 units will be made, with a price tag of 169,300 euros.

18) 2010 Porshce 911 Turbo: Although very little differences has been made to the exterior and interior, but this 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo is a nearly a new car beneath compared to last year. A new engine, and a new transmission. The 911 Turbo finally gets a direct-injection 3.8L flat-6 engine; with added two varuable turbocharges, it devilers 500 hp. So 60 mph is finished in 3.4 seconds, and top speed is over 200 mph. The new transmission is Porsche's latest twin-clutch PDK 7-speed transmission. Porsche also tweaked the all-wheel-drive system for a new setup, and improved fuel-economy by 18%, to make it 25 mpg combined. Prices start $132,800 and $143,800 respectively, with an on-sale date of November 2009 in Germany and January 2010 world-wide.

19) 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost: The production version of the Rolls-Royce 200EX, here it is, in a new Ghost name. This "baby-Rolls" is set to be more afforable than a Phantom, but yet offer pure Rolls-Royce elegance. While it's still looks like a Rolls, the Ghost is in fact, based on the new BMW 7-Series. So the Ghost might be even sporty! Nevertheless, it's powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.6L V12, developing 563 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 60 mph comes in just 4.7 seconds with a top-speed electronically governed at 155 mph. The engine is mated to a 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. For those of you wondering, the Rolls-Royce Ghost manages an estimated fuel-economy of 17 mpg. Orders have already been taken, with prices range between 200,000 and 300,000 euros. Buyers will have a choice of 12 exterior colors, each of which can be contrasted by an available Silver Satin hood.

20) 2010 Saab 9-5 Sedan: While this is an all-new Saab, it's in fact, the last Saab that will ever to come-out of General Motors, as Koenigsegg now has full control and ow nership of Saab. The 9-5's exterior styling has been inspired by the Aero X concept car while the windshield and roof are reminiscent of the classic 900 model. Inside, Saab owners will feel right at home with the traditional, driver-focused cockpit that features an aircraft-inspired head-up information display. Beneath that body, lives GM's Epsilon II platform, that is shared with the Opel Insignia, and Buick LaCrosse, though the 9-5 actually has a longer wheel-base. Engines vary from diesel and petrol, though the 2010 9-5 is best with the new twin-turbocharged 2.8L V6 making 300 hp, mated to a 6-speed automatic and Haldex all-wheel drive system.

New Reveal : 2011 Citroën DS3

Introduction:

We all know Citroën, as a French automaker, that pretty much makes compact city cars. In these times, it's actually the perfect timing for Citroën to shine, as new retro compact city cars are the hit. So, cars like the Mini Cooper, and Fiat 500, are benchmarks. So now, Citroën is competing with this, the 2011 DS3, a retro re-make of the 1960 Citroën DS. The 2011 Citroën DS3 will make its live debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Exterior Design:

Now although Citroën is trying to set the DS3 as a revolutionary re-make of the original '60s DS, the DS3 in fact, is an identical twin to the 2009 Citroën DS Line Concept, which is always a good thing. So all the Concept's greats are featured on the DS3, like the front-bumper LED day-time lights, weirdly-shaped rear-windows, and even the cool-looking wheels. In fact, the only notable differences between the prototype and the production car concern the replacement of the concept's central tailpipe with two outlets and the conventional roof antenna. On the technical side, the production DS3 is relatively the same size as the Fiat 500 and Mini Cooper. Unique option on the DS3, is the optional colors for the roof, which include black, white, blue, and red, with various shades as well.

Interior Design:

The DS3's stylishly aggressive exterior is matched with an equally tasty interior which is shared with the new 2010 C3 hatchback. Being a more upscale model, the DS3 features a more trendy trim decor than its five-door sibling. Citroën also offers customized interior setups for the DS3, like a choice of six finishes for the dashboard strip which encompasses the air vents, instrument cluster, multi-function screens and the scented air-fresher; while there's also a variety of colored fabrics and leather, and even five different trims for the gear shifter.
Powertrain:

Being European, Citroën has to offer many various engine options, including diesel and petrol engines. Two diesel engines come with CO2-efficient Euro V - certified HDi engines, that develop 90 hp and 110 hp. Whereas three petrol BMW co-developed engines, come in 1.6L of displacement, outputting 95 hp and 120 hp naturally-aspirated, and 150 hp with a turbocharger. Mini and Fiat ought to take notice, as the new DS3 will go on sale in most European markets by early 2010, as a 2011 model year.

Meet the Scorpion: Ford debuts a new 6.7-liter Power Stroke Turbocharged Diesel V8, called Scorpion!

Ready to make its debut in the next-generation F-Series Super Duty trucks, Ford just unveiled its new and awaited 6.7-liter Power Stroke Turbocharged V8 diesel engine designed to deliver more horsepower, torque, fuel-economy, while offering best-in-class towing and payload. Ford like to call this engine, the Scorpion!

“This all-new diesel engine has been so extensively tested both in the lab and in the real world that we’re confident we’re giving our customers the most reliable and productive powertrain available today,” said Derrick Kuzak, group vice president of Global Product Development. “Our Super Duty customers demand reliability and durability in their trucks so they can deliver the best results for their business and their customers. That’s exactly what this engine delivers.” Ford says that that durability testing, put the new Power Stroke diesel engine through the equivalent of 250,000 miles.
The engine also features the industry’s first single-sequential turbocharger. The unit has double-sided compressor wheels driven off one turbine impeller. This technology offers faster throttle response without turbo-lag, and yet with the boost of a larger turbocharger for maximum power. This new engine also boosts-up fuel economy, as it features 4-valves per cylinder, with inboard exhaust and outboard intakes.

Look for the new 6.7L Scorpion V8 at next year's F-150 Super Duty truck.

New Reveal : 2010 Audi S5 Sportback

Introduction:

Although the Audi A5 Sportback didn't yet make its live debut, the S-Line version is already here, to spice it up against the performance-oriented competitors. This 2010 S5 Sportback will make its debut at Frankfurt Motor Show, with sales starting in spring 2010, coupled with a price-tag of 57,900 euros ($82,761 USD). Audi do it best with their S-Line models, as they promise to pack a lot of performance, with only settle changes compared to its less-powerful siblings.
Powertrain:

Concerning the powertrain, the Audi S5 Sportback similarly underscores its superiority: a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission and Quattro permanent all-wheel drive are standard equipment. Upon request, Audi will also include a sport differential, that variably distributes power on the rear axle between the rear wheels. Power comes from Audi's latest 3.0L supercharged TFSI V6, now packing 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. Although it's actually heavier than either the S5 Coupe or S5 Cabriolet, this S5 Sportback still sprints to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, and reaches a limited 155 mph top speed. Plus, this engine will manage 25 mpg fuel-economy, claiming the S5 Sportback as "the best in this power-output category."
Design:

So how does the S5 Sportback differs from the standard A5 Sportback? Well, first look for the 4 exhaust pipes outback, then extended body-kit, and then of course the classic Audi S-Line trademark cues, like the 18-inch wheels, and S-Line grill, with S5 badges. Inside, sport-bucket seats with two-tone color leather are added, coupled with S5 badgeds around the cabin.

New Reveal : 2010 Saab 9-5 Sedan

Introduction:

Thanks to a leak by in July, Saab couldn't surprise us with their new 2010 9-5 Sedan. However, now, we got the full details, but more info is to come when the 9-5 makes its official debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. While this is an all-new Saab, it's in fact, the last Saab that will ever to come-out of General Motors, as Koenigsegg now has full control and ownership of Saab.
Exterior Design:

The 9-5's exterior styling has been inspired by the Aero X concept car while the windshield and roof are reminiscent of the classic 900 model. Key feature to this design, is the one-piece roof and c-pillar, that makes the windshield, looks kind of attached to the roof. The back-end is very sharp, as the LED taillights look edgy, and the square exhaust-pipes are futuristic. However, the front-end looks to be lost with character, as the trademark grille is a bit on the soft side, and the bumper grilles look aggressive and mean.
Interior Design:

Inside, Saab owners will feel right at home with the traditional, driver-focused cockpit that features an aircraft-inspired head-up information display. The Swedish maker promises that the choice of materials, the fit and finish and the perceived quality of the controls all reflect the new 9-5's premium character.
Drivetrain:

Beneath that body, lives GM's Epsilon II platform, that is shared with the Opel Insignia, and Buick LaCrosse, though the 9-5 actually has a longer wheel-base. However, the 9-5 also gets its unique engines as well. Starting with a 160 hp 2.0L turbo-deisel 4-cylinder, and a 220 hp 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol, and the top-of-the-range petrol, with a twin-turbocharged 2.8L V6 making 300 hp. All engines are connected to a 6-speed automatic, via a standard front-wheel-drive, or an optional Haldex all-wheel drive system. However, the 9-5 2.8 V6 Turbo has the Haldex as standard.
Technology:

Adding to the package, Saab claim that they've also cracked the latest tech features on this 9-5. Adaptive chassis control with driver settings selected through Saab DriveSense, Bi-Xenon Smart Beam adaptive headlights, and adaptive cruise control, are just keys to the full list.

Look for Saab's 2010 9-5 Sedan at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with Wagon version to come soon.

BREAKING : Chrysler and Nissan end collaboration, Durango-based Armada and Ram-based Titan dead !

A several years back, Chrysler and Nissan have made a collaboration, to share some car platforms, and even future vehicles. Although the deal was to share some car platforms for only certain markets, the deal-breaker was to share the truck platform that the Dodge Durango and Dodge Ram created, onto the Durango-based Nissan Armada and Ram-based Nissan Titan, for worldwide market.

Well, the news here, Chrysler and Nissan have announced that it's best for both companies, to end collaboration, and therefore, kill all the deals they had. That means, the Armada and Titan are pretty much dead, until Nissan finds a new platform to base them on. Despite the Armada and Titan were somewhat successful, it seems that Chrysler, and its new Fiat owner, were the ones who demanded to end collaboration.

The collaboration involved:

1. Nissan providing to Chrysler a compact sedan for the South American market beginning this year.

2. Nissan providing to Chrysler a small vehicle for global markets beginning in 2010.

3. Chrysler providing to Nissan a full-size pickup truck starting in 2011.

New Reveal : 2011 Maserati GranCabrio

Introduction:

Do not be fooled by the name; this is not an all-new Maserati. It's in fact, the awaited GranTurismo Spyder, but in its unique name. This is the 2011 Maserati GranCabrio, that will be officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. It promises all the goodies of the GranTurismo, with the added "convertibleness".
Design:

Like the coupe variant, the GranCabrio has been styled by Italian design house, Pininfarina. What's most striking about this design, that it keeps the greats about the GranTursimo, even when the roof is chopped. So mean up-front, sexy at the back; all that can also be said on the GranCabrio. Maserati also claim, that the GranCabrio has the longest wheelbase on the market of any convertible, promising to offer "proper seats" for all four passengers. Plus, Maserati decided to go for the classic cloth-top, unlike the newly modern metal-folding hard-top. However, as a personal preference, I think that GranTursimo actually looks sleeker with its smooth roof-lines.
Performance:

Like any respectable automaker, Maserati had to re-stiffen the body structure and rigidity, after the roof-loss. Therefore, the GranCabrio is actually heavier than the GranTursimo. That's why, the GranCabrio won't be offered with the 4.2L V8 in the GranTursimo. It's in fact avalible with one engine option, which is the 440 hp 4.7L V8 with 369 lb-ft of torque, from the GranTursimo S. Connected to a 6-speed automatic with manual paddle-shifters via the rear-wheels, and the GranCabrio will hit 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, and crack 184 mph. All that, plus, the beautiful Italian V8 exhaust note is directly channeled through the cabin.

SPY SHOTS : Production-ready 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible spotted at Holden Plant in Australia !

We all know that the production 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is around the block, and will be released soon. However, for some who can't wait, there's NCE Camaro Convertible conversion offering. Nevertheless, with these new spy shots, the NCE conversion will very soon be sort of useless. Because what we have here, are spy shots of production-ready (even the paint), of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible, that will be available in showrooms beginning of next year.

What's most interesting about these Camaro Convertibles, that they were found in GM Holden's Fishermans Bend plant in Melbourne, Australia. It's the same factory that also builds the Holden Commodore, which the new Camaro is actually based on. However, for a fact, GM say that the Camaro coupe is being built in GM's Oshawa plant in Canada; but could the Camaro Convertible be built in Australia, since these cars are fully production-ready and awaiting release? Well that's got to be a question to GM when they reveal the Camaro Convertible. On the other side though, the Camaro Convertible was spotted before on GM's Oshawa plant. Anywhere they're manufactured, the Camaro Convertible will carry over the same platform as the coupe; so the 3.6L V6 gets 304 hp, and the 6.2L SS V8 gets 426 hp with the manual, and 400 hp with the automatic.

New Reveal : 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup

Introduction:

Joining the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo, and 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS to the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, is this Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race-car. Unlike its other siblings, the GT3 Cup is not road-legal, and in fact, is meant to be shown for GT3-series teams. Porsche says that it is stronger, wider and faster than its predecessors.
Design:

Like the GT3 RS, this GT3 Cup is 1.73-inch wider than the standard 911, and also features wider front wheel arches, racing rear-spoiler, three-piece light-alloy wheels, and front body panels from its street-legal GT3 RS sibling. Inside of course, it's fully stripped-out, and only features a driver-seat with racing wheel and gauge, a roll-cage, and a fire-distinguisher.
Drivetrain:

Best thing about a Porsche race-car, is surely the engine. GT3 teams will be happy that the new GT3 Cup shares the 3.8L flat-6 engine from the GT3 RS. Output is the same, at 450 hp at 8,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a sequential 6-speed manual transmission.
Production & Price:

The racing teams have to be quick when purchasing this GT3 Cup, as Porsche will be building limited production of it, and a price tag of at 149,850 Euros. So next season GT3 race is going to be more exciting, as this Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will be rivaling the Audi R8 LMS.

New Reveal : 2009 Mini Coupe Concept

Introduction:

Although Mini supposedly celebrated their 50th anniversary with the 2010 MINI 50 Mayfair and 50 Camden, but no celebration without an "eye on the future", and that happens with a concept of some sort. Well this Mini right here, is in fact, a concept that will be coming the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. By the looks of it, this 2009 Mini Coupe Concept will probably turn up to be a production car someday.
Design:

What differs this from a standard Mini, is a the new radical design of the roof, which now makes it a coupe. What benefits this? Well, the slopping roof, means that Mini takes out the tiny rear-seats, and it enlarges the luggage space. Other changes include, detailing the front and rear bumpers, headlamps, front grille and evidently, the rear-end design has been reworked; but that's basically it. It still looks like a proper Mini, but in a dramatic way. Inside, it stays true the Mini's large center speed-o-meter, but adds a new sport-bucket seats. A unique feature of the Coupe is the addition of two Chronoswiss clocks adjacent the rev counter. One clock is a purpose-built stopwatch for taking lap times, the second clock shows the time in classic style.
Drivetrain:

Underneath, this Mini Coupe Concept is still basically a Mini Cooper. So that means, sharp handling with responsive steering, and meaty engine. The engine comes out from the Mini Cooper John Cooper Works' 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, pumping out 211 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque. Nonetheless, there's a boost technology, that can deliver 206 lb-ft of torque for 10 seconds. Of course, power is channeled to the front-wheels, via a 6-speed manual transmission. Considering the facts, when this comes to production, it might just be a rival to the basic Audi TT. Plus, the Mini Coupe Concept with its aluminum roof, lack or rear-seats, make it lighter and faster than the Cooper.

There really isn’t a substitute for the ultimate off-roading vehicle when it comes to the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. At a recent launch event, the editors at Motor Trend were lucky enough to get down and dirty with SVT’s latest creation. Are we jealous? You bet we are. Here's a video review from Motor Trend.

- 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor: Compared to the standard F-150, the F-150 SVT Raptor is redesigned to be a more capable and a purpose-built off-road truck. Suspension has been retuned to handle tough off-roading situations, plus it has got Ford's latest Roll Stability Control. At launch, the F-150 SVT Raptor is available with a Flex Fuel 5.4L V8 that makes 320 hp and a torque of 390 lb-ft. A 6.2L V8 making 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque will be available early next year. Prices start at $38,995 for the 5.4 model and $41,995 for the 6.2.

Tuning the Porsche Panamera: 2010 9ff Panamera, 2010 Gemballa Mistrale

What's better in life than owning a Porsche, is actually owning a tuned Porsche. In fact, there are spacial companies who only tune Porsches, like 9ff and Gemballa. This time around, both tuning companies have decided to tune the new Porsche Panamera sedan. While the Panamera won't win any beauty contests, it's in fact, a technical showcase. So let's see what the tuners did to this 4-door Porsche.

First, the 2010 9ff Panamera. Just before the end of 2008, tuner 9ff dropped some dark sketches of how they would tune the Panamera. Now though, here are the production photos. Cosmetic changes are very apparent, and they include: An extended body-kit with a lip front-spoiler, hood scoops, quad exhaust pipes, and oddly-shaped 22-inch rims. As for power hungers, the 9ff Panamera will come in three models; PT-55, PT-60 and PT-65, and which all include a twin-turbocharged 4.8L V8. The PT-55 gives the Porsche Panamera Turbo 550 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque, through an upgraded ECU and air filters. The PT-60 adds an exhaust system and boosts output up to 600 hp with a peak torque of 590 lb-ft. The top of the line 9ff PT-65 gets a total of 650 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque through upgraded air-filters, turbochargers, a vented hood, and an exhaust system. - [9ff]

Gemballa on the hand, decided to tune their Panamera, to be more of a supercar, and a track machine. So all the visual enhancements have been designed to increase performance, which it does! Gemballa also changed Panamera's name after the tune, to the 2010 Gemballa Mistrale. like the 9ff, the Mistrale also gets a new body kit, big exhausts, and a carbon-fiber roof; plus, the black 22-inch rims are covered with racing tyres. Gemballa Mistrale will only be offered in one model, and one engine. Gemballa retuned the 4.8L twin-turbocharged V8, that now produces an astonishing 750 hp! Other performance enhancing features will include a newly air suspension module that lowers the Mistrale up to 40 millimeters, height-adjustable coilover suspension and a high-performance Gemballa brake system. - [Gemballa]

So how do these ultimate Panameras compare to Porsche's original? Papa John finally reunited with his 1971 Camaro Z28 after 25 years, and pays $250,000 to owner!

Here's a long love story. John Schnatter, who's the founder of Papa John's Pizza company, needed some financial aid to start off his pizza business. So, to help his dad, Papa John Schnatter sold off his 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. It was then, that Papa John lost his first love.

25 years later; and now Papa John's Pizza has more than 35 world-wide restaurants, Papa John wanted to reunite with his Camaro. So, he ran a search-campaign, offering $25,000 for anyone who has his Camaro. However, with all the searching, the offer eventually plummeted to $250,000. The whole search was chronicled online at www.papasroadtrip.com, where thousands offered tips on how to find his car.

Well, after months and months of hopeless searching, Papa John was finally reunited with his original 1971 Camaro Z28, and in its original color. Thanks mainly to our friends at "Obsessed with the cult of cars" - Jalopnik. So how was it done? A man by the name of Jeff Robinson heard about the contest; leading him to the Internet to search for details. He eventually ended up getting in touch with Jalopnik’s associate-editor, Matt Hardigree. Hardigree met Papa John during his search-campaign stop in Houston. Hardigree investigated the details himself, then contacted Papa John’s with the lead.

As a result, Jeff Robinson was paid $250,000 for Papa John's Camaro Z28. Papa John also offered a $25,000 reward to the family who originally bought the car from Papa John in 1983, in appreciation for their help in linking the contest winner with Papa John’s. So here, Papa John got back to his first-love, and hopefully will live happily ever after! What's to learn is that, while something worthy to the heart is sacrificed for the need of an ambition, it will surely pay-off, and pay-off very well.

New Reveal : 2010 Kia Optima

We just road-tested the 2009 Hyundai Sonata, and we were quite impressed. Now, here's its new sibling, the 2010 Kia Optima. The Optima always has been based on the Sonata, and it still is. Bascially, this is a cheap-stake Sonata. However, the Sonata is already inexpensive. So, what makes the Optima different? Read below.
Exterior Design:

It's only been a year or so since Kia gave the Optima, a mid-life makeover. Nonetheless, Kia decide to refresh it again, with a new mesh grille, darkened headlights, new LED taillights, black treatment for the lower part of the rear bumper and newly designed 17-inch wheels. Compared to the Sonata, which both the same body-shell, the Optima directs a sportier look.
Interior Design:

Inside, the Optima receives an all-new interior design, which is also shared from the Sonata. Continuing with the sporty look, the 2010 Optima features a triple-pod gauge cluster, shiny-black wood, and a new multimedia system that we liked in the Sonata.
Drivetrain:

There are no mechanical upgrades on the 2010 Optima compared to last year. It gets a 163 hp 2.0L 4-cylinder as basic, and the same 179 hp 2.4L 4-cylinder in the Sonata as an option. Transmission, is a 5-speed automatic with ShiftTronic. Unlike the Sonata though, Kia offer the Optima with steering-wheel paddle shifters, which the ShiftTronic really needs. Kia also tunes the suspension to a more sportier setup as well.
Summary:

In essence, this is a re-badged Hyundai Sonata. However, it's those supple changes like the sportier character, that make this Optima different from the Sonata. Look for the 2010 Kia Optima at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, with sales stating worldwide shortly afterwards.

New Reveal : 2011 Hyundai Tucson ix

Introduction:
This is the second-generation Hyundai Tucson. However, with Hyundai's new brand-naming, it's now the Tucson ix in the Korean market, ix35 in Europe, and Tucson in the rest of the world. So what's the real change apart from the name? Well, almost everything is new, and this 2011 Tucson is much more up-scale than the first-generation.
Exterior Design:
Automakers like Hyundai haven't yet got distinctive "trademark designing". Nevertheless, they still try to make their own unique design. The new Tucson ix carries over much of the 'swoopy' styling of the ix-onic Concept, from the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. However, unlike its originated concept, the new Tucson ix features much more sculptured lines, that actually make it busy. While its a "love it or hate it" look, it's surely more upscale and better-looking than the first-generation Tucson, and also relates to the Veracruz crossover. Overall, the pronounced look, is a plus point.
Interior Design:
This is where the Korean automaker actually improved dramatically over the several years. While the first Tucson was pretty much a dreary place to be, now this new Tucson ix's interior is cleaner, more dynamic, and seem pleasant. The sculptured look from the outside, is carried over to the center air-vents, and center multi-media system inside. Plus, Hyundai hopes to market this Tucson ix as a luxury, with added extra goodies, like a panoramic sunroof, and a back-up camera. Although this Tucson ix is bigger than its predecessor, it still only has two rows of seats; putting it with the large mix of the compact crossover segment.
Drivetrain:
At launch, Hyundai will offer the new Tucson ix with two petrol engines, and one diesel-powered. Petrol engines start with a 2.0L Theta-II 4-cylinder engine, which produces 166 hp and achieves 28 mpg, while the optional turbocharged 1.6L 4-cylinder engine packs 170 hp. The Tucson ix is also available with a 2.0L diesel "R" model, that makes 184 hp and gets a fuel economy rating of 36 mpg. All engines are fitted to a 6-speed automatic as standard, with an optional 6-speed manual, with front-wheel-drive as base, and all-wheel-drive is added as an option. Safety features like a stability-program, Downhill Brake Control and Hill-Start Assist Control come as standard.
Production & Prices:

Although we still have to wait for Tucson ix's live debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show for more details on pricing, Hyundai revealed that the 2011 Tucson ix will be manufactured at Kia's Zilina plant in Slovakia. In the Korean market, Hyundai is pricing the 2011 Tucson ix at a start of 21 million won (about $23,700 U.S. Dollar). However, it is expected that worldwide pricing would be a little cheaper. 2011 Hyundai Tucson ix will be available in dealerships beginning of 2010.

10 Unleashed : Student drag-races his teacher, winner gets 2010 Ford Mustang GT

We’ve already seen Ford fulfill one dream by putting a blind man, Roger Keeney, behind the steering-wheel of a 2010 Mustang, as a part of the company’s ongoing '10 Unleashed program. Now though, as a new episode of '10 Unleashed, it's a competition. A student, versus his teacher, on a drag-strip!

Meet Derek Murrell of Lake Mary, Florida. He's a mechanic-autoshop student, with none experience in drag-racing. However, Ford gave him the chance to challenge his mechanic-autoshop teacher, Bill Rosenblum, in a 2010 Ford Mustang GT drag race. Rosenblum, a big influence on Derek and his passion for cars, is a local drag-racer in central Florida as well. So here's the challenge; a 2010 Ford Mustang GT drag-race between a student with no experince, against his teacher who also happens to be a drag-racer, and winner gets a new 2010 Mustang GT. So how is this even fair? Well, Derek Murrell actually got lots of practicing from a drag-racer expert and 10-time NHRA Pro Stock Champion, Bob Glidden.

SPY SHOTS, Audi Package: Audi RS5 seems production-ready, and Audi preparing a track-focused R8 V10 Sport !

We love spy-shot packages, specially when the two cars from the same company seem to look production-ready, and without any camouflages. Today, we got two future Audi sportscars, that we'll showing-up in dealerships very soon.

First-up, a familiar face. It's the long-awaited Audi RS5. It's been a year at the spy shots section, but we expect it'll pretty soon move towards the unveiled section. Because what we have here, is a production-ready RS5, with all the added kit, and even the engine. This cool-looking matte black RS5 with its extended body-kit, RS5 bespoke wheels, and a mesh grille, was spotted doing some test-runs in the twisty roads in the Alps. Sources aren't yet sure from the engine, but it's either the 4.2L FSI V8, or the 3.0L supercharged TFSI V6. On either engines, RS5 is expected to have 400+ hp, and Quattro all-wheel-drive is standard.

Well, here, is another R8. The Audi R8 now has many flavors, the standard V8, Lamborghini-sourced V10, Spyder version, and R8 LMS GT3 racecar. Nonetheless, here's a R8 that makes any car enthusiasts interested. This R8 V10 has a fixed rear-spoiler, and mildly revised ground effects. However, what makes this R8 V10 so special that Audi went for extensive weight loss in this R8. So this R8 V10 is more track-focused, and it loses some Audi luxuries like the leather seats, stereo, and even air-conditioning. Yes, this is an Audi R8 V10 Sport, spotted at the Nurburgring doing some test-runs, and it seems finished. However, rumors that this R8 V10 Sport will get some inspiration from the latest 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni, and actually lose the traditional Quattro all-wheel-drive, for a more purist rear-drive-only chassis. If this truly happens, then this will in fact be the first rear-drive Audi for a very, very long time. We'll hopefully find an answer soon.

New Reveal : 2010 BMW 320d EfficientDynamics

Introduction:

With BMW out of Formula One, it's time now to focus on fuel-efficient engines rather than fire-breathing high RPMs. Well, last week, BMW showcased both 2010 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 & 2010 BMW ActiveHybrid X6. While those were hybrids, this 3-Series is actually a diesel. So it may look like any 3-Series, but this 320d EfficientDynamics has the technology to make it achieve outstanding numbers in fuel-economy ratings.
Drivetrain:

The BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine making 163 hp with 265 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that drives power to the rear-wheels. While 0 to 60 mph comes in a somewhat respectable 8.2 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph, fuel-economy comes in at an outstanding 57 mpg, thanks to the all-new EfficientDynamics with common-rail diesel, variable intake geometry, and an all-aluminium crankcase. With 57 mpg fuel-economy rating, this makes the 320d EfficientDynamics the most fuel-efficient BMW on the line-up.
Live debut at Frankfurt:

BMW will officially debut the 2010 320d EfficientDynamics at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. No word on European pricing, but all the extra information will come to Frankfurt.

New Reveal : 2010 Noble M600

Introduction:

The small British manufacturer - Noble, has just come-up with a new supercar out of no were. Noble Automotive started off in 1999, and made its name with several sportscar like the M12, M400, M14, and M15. Now though, Noble unveiled this M600, and it promises to compete with supercars like Porsche 911 GT2, Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, and Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

Design:

It's really hard to tell that this is a new 2010 model. Because where supercar manufacturers are going towards modern and funky designs, Noble's approach in the M600 is a classic old-school supercar look. Mean front-fascia, and a slopping rear-end. Even inside, it's layed-out like a classic supercar; just a thin rim steering wheel, and a gear-shifter. Though some elements like the white gauges and the carbon-fiber center stack do look modern. Overall, it's very purist in its way, and that what really differs a Noble supercar from others.
Engine & Performance:

Continues with the purist feel, the 2010 Noble M600 gets a V8 engine. It's a Volvo-sourced 4.4L V8, with added twin-turbocharged system. It packs an incredible punch; 650 hp and 618 lb-ft. Of course, to add to the purist machine, power is delivered to the rear-wheels only via a 6-speed Graziano manual transmission. With a curb-weight of only 1274 kilograms (166 kilograms lighter than the 997 GT2), the Noble M600 will sprint to 60 mph in 3-seconds flat, 100 mph comes in at 6.5 seconds, and on-wards to a top speed of 225 mph.
Suspension & Handling:

Of course, Noble won't put such massive power into the M600, until Noble's engineers assure that the M600 will be able to handle tight turns fast like on a race track. Well, instead of using the usual electronic helpers like ESP and ABS, Noble tweaked and fine-tuned the suspension and chassis. Noble claim that the M600 will handle corners will full 650 hp pace. The only electronic assist is traction-control, and even that, can be fully switched off.

The new Noble will hit dealerships across Europe in November 2009. Production will be limited to 50 units annually, with a price tag of £200,000 (roughly $328,000 US dollars).

Introduction:

Oh yes, this is our first Motor Gears review. It’s not a supercar, or a muscle convertible; it’s just another front-wheel-drive mid-size family sedan from Asia. It seems that this segments is so common, that nearly all families do need to have an economy sedan. To be honest, they do offer lots of space, practicality, reliability, all with some sportiness and a sleek design. From this class, we got to take the 2009 Hyundai Sonata for a couple of days, and walked it though the tests, to see how it fairs against the other mid-sizers benchmarks from Toyota, Honda, and Nissan.

Hyundai’s Luxury Approach In The Exterior Design:
Looking at the 2009 Hyundai Sonata, some has changed from this generation when it first debut in 2006. The new front-fascia has larger projector headlights, and also a larger 3-bar chrome grille. The new headlights and grille give this Sonata, a very settle look, even more luxurious. The power-dome hood is noticeable, and it fits nicely in the Sonata’s body-shell.

Although we got to get the very base 2009 Sonata, the cover wheels look clean. Out back, the Sonata still features those Honda Accord look-alike taillights. Though that was back in 2005. Now, they look just fine. Overall, the sleek design of the 2009 Sonata is headed towards luxury rather than the edgy sporty design. Personally, this looks way better than the complication of the new Accord.

An Interior That Will Keep All The Family Happy:
Getting inside, the 2009 Sonata gets an all-new interior compared to last year’s model. A new cockpit, revised seats, and even a new multimedia system are key features to the 2009 Sonata’s interior. Now, the new design of the cockpit looks very elegant, with materials used that look and feel top-nosh with the other Japanese rivals. The new seats are OK, but nothing special here.

Specialty here is the new multimedia system, hooked up right on the dashboard. The CD player plays MP3, and can surf through files and folders, just like any file-manager. It also supports a USB flash-drive, and the AUX-jack reads though all kinds of MP3 players, and even phones. So just plug-in the phone, and there is a hands-free phone system, that’s usually available only on premium cars. What’s impressive, that Hyundai offers this on the base model as standard, while the other Japanese demand extra money to put it on the car, and some don’t offer this at all.

Of course, like any mid-sizer, it offers capacious room for the people at the back. Oh, let’s not forget the trunk. All the numbers can be read on the internet, but all there is to it, that it’s really big and deep. It looks like the Koreans at Hyundai have come-up with an interior for this Sonata that brutally embarrasses Toyota’s interior designers and engineers. We have to say, the interior is really a plus point for this Hyundai.

Drives And Rides Like A Luxury, But Not A Sportscar:
Before I write about how it drives and how it feels through the cockpit, let’s open the hood and see what’s beneath. There’s either two options, a base 4-cylinder and a powerful V6. Of course, we only got to get the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. Though, it not such a bad thing, since most consumer these days are heading towards economy, compromising power. Like modern engines, it features direct-injection, variable-valve-timing, and all reliability. Our test-car had more than 20,000 kilometers on the trip-computer, and everything around the engine seems perfect. Now, since this is the Middle East, the engine is full of dust and seem to look like a mess. Nonetheless, it develops 175 horsepower, and 168 pounds-feet of torque. This is right on top with the competition, and also more powerful than a Camry.

New for 2009, the 4-pot Sonata gets a new 5-speed automatic. This transmission is actually brilliant. Not only the ratios are perfectly smooth, but it also does a great job of keeping the car as quiet and yet smooth as possible. Next to the “D” gear, the + and – gears are for the “shift-it-yourself” ShiftTronic mode. It’s simple to use (just up for up-shift and down for down-shift), and responsive. Best place to use it is on a highway, for an over-take. So by clicking down a couple of gears, it blips the throttles, and the car accelerates away.

It’s time to put the pedal-to-the-metal, and count some numbers. We noticed the throttle response is somewhat a little slow, but at high rpms, it gives out a sweet-sounding “tunerish” engine note. Despite that there weren’t any race-tracks in the area, we had to improvised. On the iPhone, there’s a performance-measurement program called Pocket Dyno, which uses the iPhone’s accurate accelerometer. It measures 0 - 60 mph, drag-time slip, braking, and even wheel-horsepower if the weight is plugged. So here are the numbers:

0 – 60 mph: 8.9 seconds (8.7 seconds using ShiftTronic)
Quarter-Mile: 16.7 seconds @ 89.4 mph
Acceleration Force: 0.5 G
Wheel-Horsepower: 160 Front-Wheel-Horsepower

Braking power is forced by 4-disc brakes all around, and they’re good to brake from 60 mph in 124 feet. Though the brakes do fade away quickly when excessive braking, while the brake travel becomes evident. We were most impressed with the quarter-mile number, and braking distance. However, the brakes could have been better, and we expected 60 mph to come a little faster.

Heading to the city center, we found something surprising. The Sonata is actually quite comfortable around the city’s rough roads, and it’s not that marshmallow comfort, it’s somewhat like European-cars comfort. However, at overspeed, the road and wind noise becomes high, and there’s an annoying squeak that comes from the rear-window.As for suspension and handling, most mid-sizers do have the same suspension units, but surely different tweaks and setups. For the Sonata, Hyundai fitted the usual control-arm upfront, and multilink at the rear, but Hyundai went for a soft setup unlike Honda and Nissan. While we like the soft ride, the steering feels perfectly fine on the city’s roads. That’s why we again headed to some twisty roads to really find-out what’s beneath that body. On the twisty road, we found that the Sonata’s steering didn’t give much feedback, and in fact, it was a bit numb. Maybe the Altima would have fared better.

Conclusion:
So we parked it, started to get some pictures on my DSLR camera, and got thinking, is this Sonata a hit on the Japanese rivals or a miss? Well, Hyundai actually made a great job with the Sonata. Not only is it better-looking and better-made than a Camry, it’s better equipped with goodies than an Accord, and has a better transmission than Altima’s CVT; all for significantly less money than the Japanese ask! This is an easy beat against the Camry, but maybe the Sonata still has to work more with the Accord and Altima for next-generation Sonata. If it wasn’t for some glitches, like the slow throttle response, annoying rear-window squeak, and the numb handling, the 2009 Hyundai Sonata would have the royal of the front-wheel-drive mid-size family sedan. Funny isn’t it, that not so long ago, everybody laughed at Hyundai and their miserable work. Now though, that laugh has turned into a respectable smile.

New Reveal: 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Introduction:
The new 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is here, and as always, it packs out more power, less weight, track-ready suspension and steering, and an increased asking-price from the standard 2010 Porsche 911 GT3. The hardcore GT3 RS, sets the foundation for homologating the racing version of the GT3. The main priority of the GT3 RS is to deliver the ultimate driving machine, with no "civilization" compromises.
Design:

Every design cue here, is for the purpose to make the GT3 RS actually go faster. For instance, the new wider front and rear tracks as well as additional wheel arch covers increase the span across the nose. The pronounced wheel arches house 19-inch wheel, that also gives better traction off the line. The larger and racy-like carbon-fiber rear-spoiler gives out even better downfroce from the GT3. As for things that don't make the GT3 RS go faster, Porsche added "GT3 RS" stickers on the fenders, and red-painted rims and side-mirrors. Inside, it gets a fully stripped-out interior, with carbon-fiber racing seats. Even the rear-seats had to go away, in-favor of the roll-cage.
Powertrain:

Even though that the GT3 RS is actually lighter than the GT3, Porsche still want more power in the GT3 RS. So, the 3.8L flat-6 now packs 450 hp at a smacking 8,400 rpm. That is surely a lot for this light car, so 60 mph will come under 4 seconds, and a top speed will be around 195 mph. Of course, Porshce didn't fuss here about any PDK transmission or all-wheel-drive, the GT3 RS gets a proper 6-speed manual with power going through the rear-wheels only.

Suspension & Handling:

Of course, the Porshce engineers get comfortable around the GT3 RS, since they don't have to care about road-comfort, and focus more on track-balance. BREAKING : Hyundai-Kia overtakes Ford Motor Company, becoming the world's 4th largest automaker!

In the last few years or so, the merged Hyundai and Kia have been going through a great phase of the company. Not only they are a great competition to the Japanese automakers, but recently to American automakers as well. They newly modern cars are reliable, offer lots of kit, well-priced, and also have a great warranty. So lately, they're getting what they paid for, great sales reports.

In fact, according to Automotive News Data Center, the Korean automaker have sold cars so much, that now Hyundai-Kia have overtaken Ford Motor Company (FoMoCo), and becoming the world's 4th automotive manufacturer, after Toyota, General Motors, and Volkswagen. While Ford saw a 30% decline in sales during the first half of 2009, Hyundai-Kia got to sell 8,000 more vehicles than the giant Ford.

It's funny how these Koreans at Hyundai-Kia have improved. Because just a decade ago, they were ranked as 11th largest automaker, and people didn't have any trust of them. Now, it's a totally different situation, were we all are stunted by how their new cars have become so much better. It's really a great story that teaches us, that everything we do, will pay off in the end!

BREAKING : 2009 Gumpert Apollo Speed sets new Nurburgring record for production cars! [w/video]

It's such a bad for the 2009 Dodge Viper ACR! Viper fans have always been praising that their Viper ACR super-muscle is the fastest production car to ever lap the fearsome 13-mile Nurburgring Nordschleife track, in a time of 7:22.1. Yes, that is extremely quick; not today though!

German magazine, Sport-Auto, have announced that they have lapped the 2009 Gumpert Apollo Speed, around the Nurburgring in 7:11.57. That is a new Nurburgring record for production cars, which now crowns the Apollo Speed as the fastest production car ever lapped the 'Ring, and shattering the Viper ACR by a killing 11 seconds. Dang! The time was recorded on August 13th while the Gumpert Apollo Speed was piloted by 26 year-old driver Florian Gruber.

So who did the Apollo Speed do it? Well, read the refresher below. But let's not forget shall we, that the 2010 Devon GTX (which is based on a Viper), will be coming to the 'Ring; and that already took the fastest production car record at Mazda Raceway - Laguna Seca. So Viper fans, the battle has yet to stay!

New Reveal : 2010 Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder

Introduction:

Here is another super-convertible, the 2010 Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder. Based on the C8 Aileron coupe, Holland's niche automaker have set this Aileron Spyder to get nearly all the capabilities of the coupe, despite the lack of roof.
Design:

For starters, with the 2010 C8 Aileron Spyder, Spyker replaced the hard-top, with a conventional cloth soft-top. Spyker claim that they didn't go for a tractable hard-top like in newly modern convertible, so not to ruin the weight balance. Nevertheless, this soft-top is fully automatic going up and down, and can do the trick within 20 seconds. Other than that, the 2010 C8 Aileron Spyder looks a near identical to the coupe, which is great! The C8 Aileron Spyder kept the coupe's scissors doors, shark-like mesh grille, meaningful hood-scoops, and even the rear diffuser.

Drivetrain:

Powered by an Audi-sourced mid-mounted 4.2L FSI V8 mated to a 6-speed ZF automatic with shift controls through the rear-wheels, and producing 400 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque on tap, Spyker's C8 Aileron Spyder will cover 60 mph in a shift of 4.5 seconds, on-wards to a top speed of 187 mph. These numbers are pretty much similar to the Audi R8 and Aston Martin V8 Vantage. So there's no doubt that this is a supercar. However, Spyker also had to tune the suspension setup, after cutting-down the roof, and losing structural rigidity. Spyker say that this C8 Aileron Spyder is as close as it gets to the C8 Aileron coupe in-terms of handling.
Interior:

After weathering some recent financial difficulties, Spyker hopes that the C8 Aileron and C8 Aileron Spyder will help to move the brand forward. That can be seen from the interior, where many customers thought the flat cross steering wheel was too much, Spyker have listen to those criticisms. So, the C8 Aileron and C8 Aileron Spyder have a more familiar Audi steering wheel. Still, it still features the trademark "open-air" gear shifter, hand-tuned aluminum dashboard, and classic aeronautical themes that dominate the interior.

Production:

The Aileron Spyder is scheduled to go into production in the first half of next year. Spyker yet have to announce pricing list, but it's surely in the supercar territory. So, where does this put the 2010 Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder? Well, this is a very fast super convertible, and yet this is a 100% Spyker; it's a fashion accessory. It's much cooler, yet more usable than any Ferrari or Audi supercars.

New Reveal : 2010 Devon GTX

Introduction:

It was just a concept study a couple of months ago, and now it's fully in-production. The small American manufacturer, Devon Motorworks, have come-up with a new American muscle supercar, the GTX. The 2010 Devon GTX was unveiled at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Devon promises that the GTX will be the harmony between mid-blowing performance, and absolute civilization.
Desgin:

The man behind this design, is Daniel Paulin, a former Ford designer. The exterior features a blend of muscle and curves that won’t be mistaken this for a German supercar. One more notable design cue is how similar the front end on the GTX is to the Dodge Viper, but with a sleeker look. Inside, Paulin decided to go with a more clean electronic dashboard with retro touches such as the gear-shifter and steering wheel that resembles those in a Ford Mustang. As designs go for a supercar, the 2010 Devon GTX is very modern, but yet strong in its appearance.
Drivetrain:

As with the concept, the Devon GTX is actually based on the Dodge Viper. However, the California-based automaker decided to give the GTX even more power by a reducing weight with a fully carbon-fiber body. So now, the 8.4L V10 produces 650 hp and around 700 lb-ft of torque; going through the rear-wheels via a 6-speed manual. 60 mph will be achieved in less than 3.6 second, and top speed will exceed 200 mph. That my readers, is among the royal supercars, and a real competitor the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
Suspension & Handling:

Just like the Viper, the 2010 Devon GTX will be available in two flavors, a standard version, and a more track-focused racing edition ACR. While both models of the GTX get a real-time damping and ride-height adjustment suspension system, the GTX racing package features 6-piston brake calipers, track tires, and a big rear-spoiler.
Production & Pricing:

Devon Motorworks says it will produces only 36 units of the GTX annually at its facility in southern California. Prices will start at $500,000 with an optional racing package offered for $25,000. The vehicles will be sold and serviced directly through Devon Motorworks.

Oh, last thing, the video below is the Devon GTX lapping Mazda-Racway Laguna Seca, in 1:35.075, making the Devon GTX the fastest production car ever lapped the Laguna Seca.

Official : Qatar buys 10% stake in Porsche!

Now that Volkswagen and Porsche have nearly come to a merger deal, it seems Qatar wants to get in the mix as well. Porsche announced that 10% of its shares have gone to Qatar Holdings, in order to straighten their financial position. Porshce also sold a 42% stake in Porsche AG for about $4.7 billion, and sold a package of cash-settled options on VW shares (Porsche owns 50% stake in VW) to Qatar, which they say will free up approximately 1 billion euros in cash.

While that its such a complex deal, it is also not easy to know who will be controlling Porsche and VW. Because when Porsche started buying shares off VW, they now ended-up with more shares than they could afford. It's still not entirely clear who will own what when the whole deal is done in 2011, but it appears that Qatar may end up as one of the biggest shareholders of the merged Porsche-VW company.

New Reveal : 2011 Bentley Mulsanne

Introduction:

It's the all-new Grand Bentley, or at least that's what we knew it. Bentley took the covers off of their latest Mulsanne, at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance in Monterey, California. So where does the Mulsanne fit in Bentley's lineup? Well, for starters, the 2011 Bentley Mulsanne is the replacement for the beloved Arnage. What's more, Bentley say that this Mulsanne is a classic revival of the 1930 Bentley 8-Liter.

Desgin:

First to catch the eye on the 2011 Bentley Mulsanne is the front. The new quad-circle daytime-running-light LED headlights heavily echoes the 1930 8-Liter, and they are unmistakable to any of Bentley's lineup. Outback, the rear-quarter panel is reminiscent of the Brooklands, while the taillights treatment is Continental-like. Overall, the Mulsanne showcases some Bentley heritage, with newly modern design.

Official Debut At Frankfurt:

So, Bentley didn't inform us much. We don't have any pictures on the interior, but Bentley say that it will feature the usual sea of wood all-around, with some chrome-accented buttons, and a new steering-wheel. Under the hood, some sources say that it'll either be the 6.75L V8 from the predecessor Arnage, or the 6.0L W12 from the Continental. We will get more details when Bentley debuts the 2011 Mulsanne at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Nonetheless, the 2011 Bentley Mulsanne will hit showrooms in mid 2010, with prices start at around $300,000.

Video : Can a 638 hp Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 keep-up with a 670 hp Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce on Millbrook Proving-Ground?

British car magazine - Autocar, had to get two new highly-anticipated supercars, and run them through the Millbrook Proving-Ground track. On one hand, there's the mighty 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. On the other, there's everyone's favorite Lambo; the 2009 Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. While the ZR1 is already a tough supercar to beat, this Murcielago 670 SV is more racecar-like, and will feed the ZR1 all its dust from the back; or can't it? Well, the Americans at Motor Trend, tried to race a ZR1 against an F/A-18 Hornet Navy Jet Fighter!

So that begged the question at Autocar, can a Corvette ZR1 keep-up with a Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SV on Millbrook? Well here's what we can read on paper:

- 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: Powered by a supercharged 6.2L LS9 V8, with 638 hp and 604 lb-ft of torque. Connected to a 6-speed manual and a rear-drive chassis, the ZR1 will hit 60 mph as quick as 3.4 seconds, onwards to a top speed of 205 mph. For handling claims, the ZR1 covers the Nurburgring in 7:26.4.

- 2009 Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce: The re-worked 6.5L V12 now makes 670-hp and 487 lb-ft. Coupled that with a 6-speed auto-clutch manual and all-wheel-drive, it will launch to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Plus, thanks to 100 kilograms of shoved weight and racing aero-dynamics parts, the Murcielago 670 SV will go up-to 212 mph; making it the fastest Lambo ever made!

That's however, all writing. So with all Millbrook's twists, corners, and bumps, the answer to the original question becomes tricky. We won't spoil the end result of that question; please watch the video, and enjoy!

New Reveal : 2011 Infiniti M

Introduction:

Well, Nissan's luxury division - Infiniti, promised us to 'virtually' reveal their all-new M sedan, that will show-up in spring of 2010, as a 2011 model. Well Infiniti have kept the promised, and now, here's the all-new generation of M, in V6 and V8 forms.
Exterior Design:

The third generation of Infiniti's 2011 M sedan comes with a completely new body-shell. The front, is heavily inspired and cued from Infiniti's mega concept - 2009 Infiniti Essence Concept. All the swoopy lines goes all the way out back for more effect, while the sculptured fenders and bumpers gives the 2011 M sedan a very supple but yet sporty look. Though personally, the back-end is the best place to look at the new M.
Interior Design:

Moving to the new M's interior, as with most cars of the kind, Infiniti customers will feel right at home with the styling. The Japanese brand promises that the M will stand out thanks to the use of innovative materials, an advanced climate control system, superior audio and an enhanced quality feel. Compared to a BMW 5-Series and a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the Infiniti M offers more legroom up-front, and for the back seats as well.
Engines & Performance:

Like always, Infiniti keeps-up with the latest engines on the M. The 2011 M is offered with two all-new Nissan engines. The base engine comes in the form of a 3.7L VVEL V6 from the
2009 Infiniti G37, and out-puts 328 hp with the M37. Infiniti's M also comes with a optional 5.6L V8 from the big Infiniti QX56, which originally is a Dodge 5.7 HEMI, but it packs 400 hp in the M56. Engines are connected to a 7-speed automatic, through the rear-wheels. Infiniti did not yet announce if the 2011 M will have an all-wheel-drive variant.

LEAF fights Volt : Nissan claims 367 mpg for 2010 LEAF EV, and less expensive than Chevrolet Volt !

Now that General Motors announced that their 2011 Chevrolet Volt will be getting 230 miles-per-gallon, it's time for other automakers to fight back. Well, Nissan is very competitive, and now even in mpg numbers!

Just a couple of weeks ago, Nissan unveiled their latest fully-electric 2010 LEAF EV. Although we didn't get much information about it, but Nissan said that the LEAF can run up-to 100 miles without a sip of fuel, while the Volt will only drive 40 mile electrically before it uses the petrol engine as a recharger. Well, Nissan again fights the Volt hard, specially after the epic fuel-economy number.

According to Nissan's Twitter account, they said “Nissan Leaf = 367 mpg, no tailpipe, and no gas required. Oh yeah, and it’ll be affordable too!” Nissan said that it came up with the average using the Department Of Energy’s formula, which is just EPA's; it measures kilowatt-hours per 100 miles traveled, and then converted to mpg. So here's Nissan giving 367 mpg, all for less money than the engineers at Chevy ask. Nissan claim that the price of the 2010 LEAF is around $33,000, while the Volt is going to be around $40,000. Also, the LEAF EV should come to showrooms early next year, and Chevrolet will bring the Volt end of 2010, if not even 2011. So has the Volt already been killed? Well, all that is on paper. The truth should come in the real world.

New Reveal : 2010 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 & 2010 BMW ActiveHybrid X6

Introduction:

BMW just showcased its production version of a technology that they showed it off as a concept a couple of years ago, the ultra-fuel-efficient ActiveHybrid technology. Ok, it's actually just like any hybrid technology, but BMW always have the trend to make its best effort on any tech. So, BMW have decided to engage ActiveHybrid in its two highly-anticipated automobiles, the 7-Series, and X6.

Powertrain:

We first start with what's under the hood, since ActiveHybrid is essentially what define these two cars. As usual with any hybrid, there's a gas engine coupled with a battery-powered electric motor. The conventional engine is BMW's twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8 with a 7-speed automatic transmission; and now mated to two electric motors, with 3-phase nickel-metal hydride batteries. For the ActiveHybrid 7, that makes a total output of 465 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, while the ActiveHybrid X6 gets 480 hp and 575 lb-ft. Acceleration times are close; 60 mph comes in 4.9 seconds for the ActiveHybrid 7, and 5.6 seconds for ActiveHybrid X6. Top speed for ActiveHybrid 7 is 150 mph, and ActiveHybrid X6 is 130 mph. In each car class of its own, the ActiveHybrid 7 is the fastest production hybrid sedan, and the ActiveHybrid X6 is the fastest production hybrid crossover. Nonetheless, as these are hybrids, there importance is fuel-economy. Rating for the fuel-economy as BMW say ActiveHybrid improves about 15% - 20% on the fuel-economy compared to their standard siblings. In other words, the ActiveHybrid 7 gets a combined average fuel-economy of 29 mpg, while ActiveHybrid X6 gets 25 mpg.

Technology:

The hybrid variant of the 7-Series and X6 come equipped with an auto start stop feature and regenerative brakes, which will come as standard equipment. This technology will helps to run the electric motor alone up-to 37 mph. All the information on what the ActiveHybrid is doing, can also be viewed on BMW's updated iDrive infotainment system.
Design:

To defer it from the standard, BMW adds "ACTIVEHYBRID" badges on the the boot lid, the C-pillar and on the door cutouts. Nonetheless, BMW also tweaks the 10-spoke 19" rims to be more aerodynamically-optimized for fuel-efficiency. Plus, both ActiveHybrid 7 and ActiveHybrid X6 get there bespoke Bluewater metallic exterior paintwork.

Look for both 2010 ActiveHybrid 7 and ActiveHybrid X6 at their live debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, with sales start end of 2009.

RumorMill : Next-generation Dodge Viper could get Ferrari derived V10

Now since the Dodge Viper is under the Chrysler Group LLC, Ferrari belonging to Fiat S.p.A, and Chrysler and Fiat have merged together, that makes the Viper a cousin to Ferrari supercars. Officially, the Dodge Viper brand-name rights now belongs to Fiat, and it has the choice to do whatever with the name. Thankfully, Fiat announced earlier that it intends to keep it.

Rumors in Torino, Italy, say that Fiat is considering fitting the next-generation Dodge Viper with a V10 version of Ferrari's latest V8, which now appears in the all-new 458 Italia. This Ferrari V8 is actually one of Ferrari's latest wonders; it was designed to be extremely powerful, but yet relatively very fuel-efficient. As CARandDRIVER points out, an interesting point here is that Chrysler saved troubled Lamborghini in 1987. The move gave birth to the V10 powerplant for the Dodge Viper and the Lamborghini Gallardo. Fiat seems very-likely to keep the V10 power as a Viper trademark.

Expect the next-generation Dodge Viper to get its sights sometime in 2011 - 2012.

BREAKING : Michael Schumacher cancels temporary return to Formula One, so Luca Badoer to fill-in for rest of season!

We were all excited when the news came in, that Ferrari's 7-time Formula-One champion Michael Schumacher will make a return to F1, to replace the injured Felipe Massa for rest of season until Massa recovers from his 120 mph crash. However, Schumacher had yet to go through F1's check-up routines, to see if his body can still handle all the F1-car's g-force and speed. Well, guess what? Schumacher couldn't pass the test!

Due to his neck injury, back in February of this year when he was racing a motorcycle, Michael Schumacher couldn't pass the check-up, and therefore, wouldn't be able to race in Formula-One. So Schumacher announced that he's sorry he can't step in for Massa. “The consequences of the injuries caused by the bike accident in February, fractures in the area of head and neck, unfortunately have turned out to be still too severe,” Schumacher said. “I am disappointed to the core. I am awfully sorry for the guys of Ferrari and for all the fans which crossed fingers for me,” Schumacher said.

The F1 Ferrari Team though, got the replacement immediately. He's a senior test driver for Ferrari road-cars, Luca Badoer. Although he's 38-years old, and hasn't been in F1 since 1999, Badoer fits the job. Body wise, Ferrari say that he's perfectly fit, and he'll sustain them in F1 as in driving wise. “Since I’ve been a child I always wanted to race for Ferrari and now I’ve got the possibility to make this desire come true,” Badoer said. “I’m really sorry for Michael, because I know how much he wanted to return: I’m saying that as his friend and his fan.

So, expect to see Badoer racing car #3 with Ferrari F1 Team in the European Grand Prix on August 21-23 in Valencia, Spain.

New GM : 25 new models to come through by 2011

With General Motors CEO Fritz Henderson announcing the big news on the up-coming 2011 Chevrolet Volt, which will be achieving 230 mpg, he continues to announce more news on the other cars that will be coming the next two years.

GM confirmed that it plans to launch 25 new models for its remaining 4 core brands (Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC), by the end of 2011. CEO Fritz Henderson confirmed that a group of consumers and select media were shown the plans for what GM has in-works by 2011 at GM’s Design Center and Milford Proving Ground.

So let's start with Chevrolet. Chevrolet will be getting 10 new models for the next two years. Surely, there's the supposed GM saviour - the 40-mile electric Volt, the Spark city car, the Cruze compact-size sedan, the Camaro Convertible, a production version of the Orlando, production of the GPiX Crossover Coupe Concept, and maybe some others.
As for Buick and GMC, the Detroit automaker said that the two brands will present a total of 10 new entries through 2011, which will include cars like the up-coming luxury compact-sedan - the 2011 Buick Excelle (spy picture above), the new Buick Regal, and the GMC Terrain city-crossover.
Most interestingly, Cadillac will be getting 5 all-new models. The first comer will be the beautiful and longly-awaited - the 2010 CTS and CTS-V Coupe, along with the all-new Escalade, which will be smaller and based on the Lambda crossover platform, and the production version of the Volt-based Converj. Nonetheless, GM will be introducing two new names in the Cadillac line-up, the ATS and the and XTS sedans. The ATS is a performance-oriented luxury compact-sedan, that will get “high-tech engines, rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive”, and competes with the benchmarks from BMW 3-Series, Infiniti G37, Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The XTS on the other hand, is a full-size luxury sedan that will replace both DTS and STS sedan, with a design that echoes the 2003 Cadillac Sixteen Concept, and will be a real contender to the BMW 7-Series, Audi A8, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Now, GM said that it is holding back pictures of any of these models, until further along the development process. So if we get any more information of even pictures, you'll be the first to know!

We didn't want to rush with this kind of news until we got the full coverage behind the story. So just two days ago, General Motors CEO Fritz Henderson held a press conference, and for the first time since 'New GM' emerged out of bankruptcy, he made some big surprising news!

'New GM' CEO Fritz Henderson that the up-coming 2011 Chevrolet Volt, which GM hopes could save the company and their auto industry, will have an official EPA fuel-economy rating of 230 miles-per-gallon in city driving.

The new methodology of rating an EV vehicle is being developed by the EPA; which weighs plug-in EVs as traveling more city mileage than highway mileage on electric power alone. The EPA uses kilowatt-hours per 100 miles traveled to define the electrical efficiency of plug-ins, which then is converted to mpg. As such, GM says the Volt consumes 25 kilowatt hours per 100 miles in a city cycle, resulting 230 mpg. Now that makes the Volt, the first car ever to get a triple digit fuel economy rating!

What's more, GM said that it expects Volt owners to pay $2.75 for electricity for a range of 100 miles, or less than 3 cents a mile. So how in the name of technology have GM achieved such a thing?

Well, GM refused to state any answer to this, but just yesterday, we somewhat got an answer. Green Car Advisor contacted the EPA looking for confirmation and clarification on the methodology used on the Chevy Volt to come to 230 mpg - just like the rest of us. The EPA responded with the following statement: “EPA has not tested a Chevy Volt and therefore cannot confirm the fuel economy values claimed by GM. EPA does applaud GM’s commitment to designing and building the car of the future - an American-made car that will save families money, significantly reduce our dependence on foreign oil and create good-paying American jobs. We’re proud to see American companies and American workers leading the world in the clean energy innovations that will shape the 21st century economy.” - [Green Car Advisor]

So, to be brutally honest, GM basically lied about EPA actually rating the Volt at 230 mpg! Ok, if GM says that the Volt will be able to achieve 230 mpg in city, then that must be true; but why say that EPA tested it and measured the Volt at 230 mpg? That seems pretty weird.

However today, we got another answer. Everyone's favorite GM man, Bob Lutz, who's now the marketing manager for GM, said that “If you haven’t heard, 230 is the estimated city fuel economy number for the Chevrolet Volt, as in 230 miles per gallon, according to new federal fuel economy procedures under development by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for plug-in electric vehicles,” said Lutz. “And we anticipate a composite fuel economy rating of more than 100 mpg. The Volt’s estimated electricity usage is about 25 kilowatts per 100 miles, about half of what a typical household uses daily”. - [Lutz’s article on ChevroletVoltage.com]

Yes, we are all confused! GM are adamant that the Volt has an official EPA fuel-economy rating of 230 mpg. On the other hand, the EPA says they haven't tested the Volt yet. So really, what's going on? For that, we just have to wait until the Volt comes to showrooms in end of 2010, and see if that is true.

- 2011 Chevrolet Volt: Production of the 2011 Chevrolet Volt will start in late 2010. The plug-in hybrid electric-car will only drive the battery-powered electric-motor, while the petrol engine will recharged it when needed. The electric-motor can run up-to 40 miles alone on a electric-recharge, and 300 miles when the petrol-engine provides recharging. By running 220 Lithium-ion battery-cells, it produces 150 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque from zero-rpm. 0-60 mph is expected to come in less than 8 seconds, and now the fuel-economy is "rated" at 230 mpg.

New Reveal : 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo

Introduction:

We were waiting for this; the 2nd-generation of the 997 Porsche Turbo. Yes, the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo has come among us, and like always, the major changes are what's beneath. Public and live debut will come at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Though, we got all the information from the internet debut.
Design:

Just like all 911 Turbo generations, the 2010 model is available in Coupe and Cabriolet variants. So what's changed? Well, the changes are supple, but they're the same changes that happened for all 2nd generation 911s. Which include, a tail of day-time LEDs on the front bumpers, and a sharper-looking LED tail-lights. Other than that, it virtually looks nearly-identical to the 2007 911 Turbo, which isn't such a bad thing, because this already a great-looking Porsche. Inside though, the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo receives a revised dashboard and navigation system, while Porsche also designed a new steering-wheel for this 911 Turbo.
Engine & Transmission:

So here's the real change; the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo gets an all-new engine for this model year. The new 911 Turbo is powered by a new direct-injection and twin-turbocharged 3.8L flat-6, making 20 more hp and 15 more lb-ft of torque, at 500 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Of course, power goes to the usual Porsche's all-wheel-drive system. What about the transmission? Well, Porsche decided to hit the new 911 Turbo with their latest dual-clutch 7-speed PDK. However, their ridiculous 2-mode button shifter received lots of criticism; too much in fact, that Porsche doesn't offer PDK with their racing-inspired 911 GT3. Well, Porsche finally listened to those criticisms, and now the 911 Turbo with its PDK transmission, are fitted the proper and commonly-used F1-style paddle shifters (that used right-paddle for up-shift, and left-paddle for down-shift).

Handling & Performance:

To handling all the extra power will full pace, Porsche had to re-calibrate Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system, while Porsche Stability Management (PSM) is also re-programed to give-out more spin than the outgoing system. Plus, that despite all the new technologies and bigger engine, this 911 Turbo is actually lighter than last year's model. Coupled that, and Porsche's latest variable turbine geometry that deletes the turbo-lag, and the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo will crack 60 mph in an astonishing 3.4 seconds, and topping-out at 194 mph. So, Porsche again hits the new rivals, from the new Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, hard!
Fuel-Economy & Prices:

Even with all that power and performance, the 2010 911 Turbo reduces CO2 emissions by 18%, while improving fuel-economy. The fuel-economy estimate for this 911 Turbo measures at 25 mpg, under the EU5 standard. That's very impressive for a monster like this, which will leave the big rivals in the petrol stations. In fact, 25 mpg in this 911 Turbo, is actually just as fuel-efficient as a V6-powered Toyota Camry! So what's the price of the engineering-brilliance? Well, pricing is listed for the coupe and cabriolet at $132,800 and $143,800 respectively, with an on-sale date of November 2009 in Germany and January 2010 world-wide. If anyone has the money; don't wait for the Frankfurt Motor Show to see it live, just order one right now!

Muscle-car sales fight: Camaro outsells Mustang for second straight month, but Camaro fares worse in crash ratings!

While July was a pretty-hot month, its sales report on the new-born muscle-cars is even hotter!Back in 2009 June sales, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro outsold the 2010 Ford Mustang and 2009 Dodge Challenger, for the first time since 1993. Well the trend goes on even in July sales.

Despite its 1rst and 2nd recalls on the new Camaro, customers still want to get all-around the Camaro. So for 2009 July sales, the Camaro outsells the new Mustang, for the second straight month in-a-row, at 7,113 Camaros sold while Ford sold 6,686 Mustangs, and of course, the Challenger falls behind. However, as some auto-analysist say, we should expect some changes in next month's sales!

Here's the deal, the all-new Camaro just got its NHTSA crash test rating; and guess what? The engineers at Chevrolet didn't put the Camaro through their safety routines, and therefore the new Camaro passed 4-stars of frontal-crash rating, while the Mustang and Challenger got the full 5-star mark. Now that is a big deal, since the Camaro is a very powerful car, and the visibilty is somewhat limited. So unless there's a talented driver behind the wheel, expect many people to crash the Camaro around.

New Reveal : 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate

Introduction:

At this September's Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz will wrap-off the covers of the awaited Estate version of the new-generation 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which already has Sedan and Coupe variants. Here, we got an early-look on the E-Class Estate, so keep scrolling.
Design:

Measuring at 4.8 meters in length, 1.8 meter in width, and 1.4 meters in height is not only larger than the outgoing model, but also the largest estate car in the premium segment. It boasts a maximum load capacity of 1,950 liters along while other features include the 'easy-pack' tailgate that opens automatically and the 'quickfold' rear seats that can be folded down easily from the load compartment. Styling concerned, the E-Class Estate just looks like the sedan, but with a hatch at the back, which make it resemble the ConceptFASCINATION even more.
Technology:

Like the new E-Class Sedan and Coupe, the E-Class Estate is stuffed with new technology, that heads towards safety and comfort. Technology like 9-airbags that can be increased to 11 if customers opt for the extra rear passenger side airbags, 4 belt tensioners and belt force limiters, NECK-PRO crash-responsive head restraints and a newly developed DIRECT CONTROL self-leveling suspension, which features the adaptive damping system, all come as standard equipment in the E-Class Estate.
Drivetrain:

This is what the Stuttgart automaker is good at; offering vast engine options for the E-Class Estate. They start from a 4-cylinder diesel, up-to a big petrol V8:

Oh, we're back to the Nurburgring videos. Last time we checked out the 'Ring, the 2010 Nissan GT-R lapped the 13-mile track in an amazing 7:26.7. Now, the long-awaited 305 hp Ford Focus RS comes to the track, and sees what's what.

Driven by Horst von Saurma-Jeltsch, Chief editor of the German magazine Sport-Auto and well known Nurburgring racer, the Focus RS covered the Nurburgring in a lap-time of 8:26. While the RS' lap-time is an astonishing half-a-minute faster than the 225 hp Focus ST (8:51 by Sport-Auto in 2005), it's off by a mere 10 seconds from the rival and the fastest front-wheel-drive hatchback, the 2007 Renault Megane R26.R (8:16 by Vincent Bayle in 2008).

SPY SHOTS : Covered BMW EfficientDynamics Concept, headed for Frankfurt Motor Show

After announcing that BMW will no longer compete in Formula One, the German automaker said that it will reallocate freed up resources “to the development of new drive technologies and projects in the field of sustainability.” Well, here's the proof, a covered BMW concept called EfficientDynamics, that will be shown at this September's 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The BMW EfficientDynamics Concept is Bimmer's showcase to fuel-saving technologies and to be a “two-seater that draws on all the latest BMW technology and lightweight build processes.” That's all we got, for now. We’ll have more details as we get them at Frankfurt, when BMW take-off the cover of this concept. So stay excited!

New Reveal : 2009 Mazda MX-5 Superlight Concept

Introduction:

For 20 years, Mazda always had the recipe for their MX-5 Miata convertible the same. Light-weight, small-engine, and rear-wheel-drive. Plus, it's always the cheapest two-seater convertible out there. Now, for this September's 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, Mazda decided to add more to the MX-5's recipe, as this MX-5 Superlight Concept.

Design:

So what had Mazda done in this MX-5 Superlight Concept? Well, the stripped out, lightweight MX-5 comes with no windshield and a sportier chassis setup, while we also noticed the absence of visible door handles and the bucket sport seats in the interior.
Technology:

Mazda says that the MX5 Superlight Concept features lightweight technology that improves performance, handling, fuel economy and reduces CO2 emissions. Although Mazda didn't reveal any information about the Superlight Concept, but guess to carry-over the stadard 1.8L and 2.0L out of the production MX-5. However, Mazda claims that the vehicle is just a show car, but expect Mazda to produce the Superlight in a limited run in the very near future.

So when Frankfurt Motor Show starts, we'll be getting the full picture on the Superlight Concept. Stay tuned.

LEAKED Ad : 2010 Audi R8 Spyder ad leaked on a UAE newspaper

On a UAE newspaper, Audi seem to accidently got to advertise the all-new R8 Spyder too soon. The ad is pretty funny, showing how this R8 can be so practical without a roof, but yet still can be a true supercar. According to many sources and spy shots, the R8 Spyder will likely have a cloth-top, rather than the newly modern metal-folding-top.

Like the R8 hard-top, Audi is fitting the same engine line-up on the Spyder. Base engine a 4.2L FSI V8, with 420 hp, and a lamborghini-sourced 525 hp 5.2L FSI V10 as an option. Both engines can be fitted to an open-gate 6-speed manual, or a 7-speed S-Tronic twin-clutch transmission. Quattro all-wheel drive system is standard equipment.

Look for the 2010 Audi R8 Spyder at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

2011 Infiniti M sedan to be 'virtually revealed' at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

Infiniti confirmed that it will hold the ‘virtual launch’ of the new 2011 Infiniti M sedan at the 59th annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 14. So what does Nissan's luxury division mean by ‘virtual launch’? Well follow down for the answer.

Infiniti say that “the event will led by an onscreen guide who will take guests on a pictorial journey to rediscover the power of nature and form - and how it can lead to a sense of freedom,”. Basically that means that Infiniti will have a big screen to show their new 2011 M sedan. However, Infiniti also claim that “To make this virtual launch a reality, Infiniti partnered with RTT USA and Klip Collective to create an exact computer-generated rendering of the M using only engineering data.”

Ford has just launched an online customizer for the 2010 Mustang, and it's darn fun to play with. Full customization from hoods, louvers, scoops, spoilers, grilles, wheels, stripes, and even background effects with verity of burnouts, and wall-paint. Anyone can design their own 'Stang, and download a desktop-wallpaper for the computer.

What Ford has also done, it put a competition in this Mustang customization. New Reveal : 2010 Holden Commodore SIDI

Introduction:

With many of the rear-drive family sedans are in-dangered species, the Australians are still primarily the ones who make the cheapest and the most fun out there. Yes, we are talking about the Holden Commodore, which the face of Australian RWD family sedan. The Commodore always had either two options, a base V6, and a massive American V8. For 2010 though, the Commodore SIDI line-up, adds a new small V6, a bigger V6, and the usual V8. Though styling hasn't changed, this still looks fresh, but we'll talk about the design when the next-generation Commodore comes-out.
Powertrain:

The 2010 Holden Commodore SIDI will newly come-up with a base direct-injection 3.0L V6, that puts-out 270 hp and 213 lb-ft of torque. Although this is the smallest V6 in a Commodore for the last decade, this V6 is actually as powerful as the current 3.6L V6. However, also for 2010, the 3.6L V6 is now rated at 281 hp and 258 lb-ft; though this engine is now an option. For the outrageous SS V8, it's the same 6.2L L99 V8 found in the new Chevrolet Camaro, so 400 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque. All engines also have replaced the 4-speed transmission, to Holden's new 6-speed automatic, with "Shift Tronic".
Fuel Economy:

The whole point that Holden actually moved-down for a 3.0L V6 as a base engine, is to save-up fuel and less CO2 for the environment. Holden says that the 3.0L engine gets up to 13% better gas mileage than the 3.6L, at 25 mpg at city, and 31 mpg on the highway. The extra power in the 3.6L engine doesn't get in the way of economy, so this engine get the same gas-mileage as last year. The new V8, with its Active Fuel Management, gets 16 mpg city, and 25 mpg highway.

Future Work:

This model-design of this Commodore will only last for 2010. So the 3.0L V6 Commodore is actually is a tease for the next year's all-new redesigned Commodore, that will come in end of 2010, as a 2011 model. Nonetheless, the next-generation Holden Commodore will get a new base engine, which is probably a turbocharged 4-cylinder, and the new 3.0L will be the mid-range, replacing the 3.6L. But we will always get the muscle V8, making this our favorite V8 muscle-sedan.

Nurburgring gets a new safety car : The Nissan GT-R Rapid Response Vehicle

Although the Nurburgring Nordschliefe track is the dream to most racing-enthusiasts, the 'Ring's fast, blind, and dangerous corners took the lives of hundreds over the years. The team at the Nurburgring always try their best to save those who hit the tight wall-barriers or caught an engine-fire. Well now, they need a new safety car, that's really quick to get to the seen of the accident, and yet have all the equipment needed.
Here it is, the new Nissan GT-R Rapid Response Vehicle. Like a any R35 GT-R, but Nurburgring's Rapid Response Team fitted it with a a fire retardant tank that takes up all of the rear passenger area and a functional hose reel and equipment bay in the trunk. All that, and it will cover the 13-mile track in 7:26.7.

New Reveal : 2010 Nissan LEAF EV

Introduction:

Back last week, Nissan showed-off their future electric-vehicle platform. Well with the surprise of this week, Nissan have already unveiled the new model, that will be applying the new platform, and will be on sale in Japan, U.S., and Europe in late 2010. At a global reveal, Nissan CEO, Carlos Ghosn got to show the Japanese automaker’s new zero-emission electric-car - the Nissan LEAF.
Design:

The Nissan LEAF tries to be as aero-efficient as possible, while still be acceptable. Like all "green-cars", Nissan got the LEAF to be a 5-door family hatchback, that actually looks quite fancy for the average family car, with tinted headlights, and the C-pillar which echoes the Murano. Nevertheless, with its curved flare-fenders, and rear-diffuser, aero-dynamics have been studied well, and the air-flow is very clean. Inside, the LEAF is based on a Versa hatchback, so it's very spacious. However, unlike any Nissan, the interior on the LEAF looks somewhat like a concept. It looks the part, but mainly, the LEAF uses the same split-gauges like in the Honda Civic.
Powertrain & Technology:
Although there isn't much only-electric vehicles out there, Nissan reckon that this technology works. The LEAF is powered by a battery-powered electric-motor, that packs 107 hp and 208 lb-ft, coming from 0 rpm. On a full-charge, the Nissan LEAF allows for a driving range of 100 miles with a top speed of 87 mph. That 100 miles though, will be all electric, and "zero-emissions", as Nissan say. On the other side though, charging time takes approximately 8 hours on a standard 200V outlet. However, buyers can go for the DC 50kW quick-charger, which recharges the battery up to 80% in under 30 minutes.
Production & Pricing:
Nissan expects production capacity to reach 200,000 units a year by 2012. The first couple of units will be produced at the company’s Oppama, Japan, with additional capacity planned for Tennessee, U.S. The lithium-ion batteries, which cost around $10,000 per vehicle, will be produced in Zama, Japan, with additional capacity planned for the U.S., UK and rest of Europe. Pricing for the vehicle is expected to come in around $30,000 for the U.S. market. So where does this put the LEAF against? Well surely, it's up against the ultra-hybrids from Toyota Prius and Honda Insight. Nissan also got to get in the ways of the 40-mile electric Chevrolet Volt. More importantly though, we like to think that this is a head-up rival to the also all-electric Tesla Model S. So the electric-vehicle market is coming-up fast. That why Nissan said that it wants to mass market its electric vehicles globally by 2012.

Ferrari mistakenly teases on a new 600 GTB though their website

With Ferrari announcing their all-new 458 Italia, Ferrari updated their website, to add the latest Prancing Horse to the model list. Nonetheless, Ferrari also published a teaser for a new model on its official site. In the list with the other Ferrari road-cars, a black box saying "Coming Soon" next to the new 458 Italia, and the title for that box is "600 GTB". The box appeared for a few minutes before the Italians hastily removed the text. According to Quattroruote magazine, Ferrari said that the teaser was the result of an error.

Report : Nissan studying smaller turbocharged engines to replace bigger engines, for future models

It's known all around, that Nissan engines are not bullet-proof, but also very powerful. However, with economy and environment concern, gas-guzzling power is in-danger. So, Nissan is doing all its best right now, to help the economy and the environment, without compromising power.

Nissan’s powertrain engineering division manager Tetsuya Takahashi has indicated that his department is closely studying the possibility of turbocharged engines in their next generation of Nissan vehicles. Speaking to Motor Trend, Takahashi admitted that Nissan is looking to return to smaller displacement engines mated with turbochargers to increase performance and fuel-efficiency, and replacing bigger naturally-aspirated engines.

Nonetheless, BMW already got their way with the award-winning 3.0L twin-turbocharged in-line 6-cylinders, and making wonders in the new Z4, X6, and 5-Series Gran Turismo. Audi also got the new 3.0L supercharged V6, that actually replaced their 4.2L V8 in last-generation Audis. As for Nissan, they have the amazing GT-R, and earlier rumors hints on a 370Z Hybrid. So presumably, there's soon going to be fight with big powerful naturally-aspirated engines against smaller and lighter boosted engines.
